I bought the 1st season the day it came out and loved it. I bought the 2nd season when it came out and loved it too. Okay, I wish the packaging for all seasons could be the same, but I buy them for the shows...my god, these shows are good. Is there a sitcom on the air now that comes close to...
The remaining Mary Tyler Moore Shows Batman Adventures of Superman (announced) Maverick Rockford Files The Fugitive Man From UNCLE more Howdy Doody Blossom CHiPS
Sunday's USA Weekend magazine (insert in Sunday papers) had an ad on the back cover for the new Columbia House TV on DVD Club. One of the titles listed as available was Gunsmoke and in small print it said "Season One Five Pack." Don't ask me what this means, but it sounds encouraging.
Great movie--far more interesting than I expected. The anime and black and white sequences seemed perfectly natural to me. I can't imagine the film without those effects. I'm afraid I'll buy it on DVD any way/ways it comes out. I'm ready, so ready, for Volume 2.
I bought these two sets Tuesday and was through with them Thursday including special features. These are magnificent sets. I was slightly disappointed with the commentaries but they were kinda fun. The big features (to me) are the unseen pilot on Season 1 and the game show on Season 2. Never in...
Actually the MTM set is a much better deal than the first season of All in the Family. I just compared them on Amazon (chosen at random). AITF: 13 episodes for $36. MTM: 24 episodes for $43. And throw in a decent documentary and some comentaries. Well worth $7 more. Granted, the 2nd...
Newhart also did a parody of the Dallas ending. If memory serves, it was the final episode of Newhart (with Mary Frann as his wife) and it ended with Suzanne Pleshette (Newhart's wife from the earlier The Bob Newhart Show) waking and hearing the shower running, thus turning the later series all...
Good review as always. This season aired during my first year away from college and as I remember, hard as this may be to believe, there were only 3 tv sets on campus, so you couldn't always see what you wanted. I'm using this as an excuse for several of these episodes (unlike season 1) being...
I would second (or third) The Day After, Special Bulletin, and Helter Skelter. How has this thread gone 3 pages with no mention of the all-time greatest tv movie, Duel? I'd promise to buy two copies to get it released.
I bought the McCartney CD, McCartney DVD, and the Dylan CD-none Fox titles. I bought a Demo Disc for a penny, asked if I could buy more. The girl said I could buy them all. Second one rang up free--I guess because I bought the Fox disc (Demo Disc).
Much as I despise shopping between Thanksgiving and Xmas, I will have to venture out for this one. Great review AGAIN, Ron. We do appreciate the effort. And thanks to Universal for sending a screener.
Now, kids, how many different dates did we get for Season 2 before the real one? While I'm wishin' and a-hopin' that this date is true, I am not holding my breath.
Agree this is great news, except that MWC thing. I'm thinking there'll still be season sets, but there are a whole lotta people not wanting to commit several hundred $$$ to any one series. Those Best of Friends discs still seem to be selling... And Carl, boycotting all their tv product won't...
I picked up this set today at Best Buy, matching Target's $39.95 price. I'd never seen an episode, but I'm halfway through the 2nd disc and already have gotten my money's worth. How can television this good only last two years??? Extras would be nice, but this is still a great set.
A must-must-must have. I'm beyond ready. My question is will it have the musical sequences for later singles that replaced the originals in the reruns as bonus material?
Asked at my usual grocery store this morning and the manager said that to get this promotion, huge quantities had to be ordered, so they wouldn't be getting any. I'm thinking Wal-Mart's looking good for these. Today's newspapers also have an ad for them with a coupon for $1.00 off 2 boxes...
I agree 100%! This is a great film and it looks like MGM has done a really nice job with it. I'd also like to recommend (GASP) reading the book. It is one of the few novels I have found to be laugh-out-loud funny. Thanks for bringing this little film to the attention of the members of HTF.
Obviously it's not something you'll watch a hundred times--it's 22 hours long!!! However, at this length, if you watch it 3 times, that's like watching one movie 39 times. I say buy it. I did, without having seen an episode and I'm really glad I got it.
According to RollingStone.com McCartmey's tour DVD, now called "Back in the U.S." is coming November 26. Regarding Feb release of Anthology, that suits me just fine as there's too much coming before Xmas.
