Now that I've the 47A, I've been looking for more DVDA discs. To my surprise DVD Planet, which early on carried DVDA titles, now lists many titles as 'out of stock'. Is this because there is a production constraint or is DVD Planet not restocking? Not trying to start rumours, really just looking...
I've been using the 47A for over two weeks now and, while it has many virtues and I would recommend it to many, my Sony 9000ES does most of what the 47A does- and does it consistently better. I still might keep this player but I was wondering if it would make more sense to return it and get a...
On the heels of the success of The Last Waltz I've heard there is some interest in putting this out on DVD. I was at that concert and own the LD. There wasn't a Scorcese directing, but the filming and recording techniques were top rate. And quite an array of talent (ignoring Dylan's own...
I keep hearing about this new improved (not evolutionary) line of amps and receivers. I've had several B&K products and have felt they represented good value, but I'm starting to think the current Reference line is dated. For instance, the 7250, which I have, is a very muscular piece but not...
On page 19 of the current TAS Dan Sweeney mentions a new Phillips machine that does DVDA and SACD using separate data streams. This is the first I've heard of this machine, the DVD-962SA, for $600. If this is real it might be an alternative to the Pioneer 47A (which I just bought but can return).
I've been thinking about the Pioneer 47A for a couple of months. Appreciate all the comments and discussions about this machine, esp. from stalwarts like keithH, PhilA, JohnK, etc. My bottom line is that this is not alot of money to experiment with 2 formats.
I got a Sony 9000ES 'bout the...
This is the model with 4 groups of isolated outputs, pass through catv/sat signals, pass through telephone line, 3 stage filtering, heavy cord, etc. etc. This unit can serve as power central for a rather robust HT system.
$200/OBO I live in Baltimore/DC area.
I don't want to resurrect the controversy over OBI's review (BTW, I read and appreciate his contributions), but would like to know if the forum is practically unanimous about the SilverSerpent and other CatCable offerings. I'm about to recable and the prices seem reasonable to me relative to...
I finally bought two Mitsubishi srsd100 Directv systems to get the two receivers. I also got a 24" Sony oval dish so I have 2 18" dishes doing nothing. I am also the proud owner of 4 dual LNBs. Whatever. The Sony install manual talks about Satellite C and says it may offer services in my...
Marshall W. just saved me from buying a Sony A55- which it turns out is a piece of crap. I'm back on the drawing board; I'm also pissed that the Sales guy- who was competent in recommending other gear- blew this recommendation so badly. It seems in general that there aren't many competent...
I can get the SAT 55A for $170. An elliptical (HD and Local Channels) dish from Direct is $150. Installation is free. Is this a good deal?
I like the 55A because it has digital optical output (I'd prefer coax, but...), and S-Video. Thus my TV signals would finally be at the level of the...
I'm ready to go satellite. I live in a Baltimore suburb and I believe our house has acceptable Southern exposure. I figure I might as well put in one of those oval 'HD' antennae although I don't yet have an HD set. Our main viewing tastes are movies and music events. Public TV is a definite...
