I saw WALL-E over the weekend, and I loved it. It's the best picture of 08 so far. I do have one problem with it: If Earth is uninhabitable, why not settle on another planet? Since humans in the film are capable of traveling through hyperspace and seemingly beyond the galaxy, they should also...
Well, I finally got a chance to watch a DVD 9 of ANH Revisited, and I must say I'm very impressed. Adywan's definitely got some talent. The little things like adding R2 and Vader's blinking lights to replacing the crapping looking Death Star plans to the one seen on AOTC is impressive.
As for...
Regarding the ending: The Aliens, through Oxley tells the group that they are greatful for restoring the skull to its rightful place and that they will grant any wish that they want (remember Indy saying that "whoever returns the skull to the city temple will be given control over its power"...
Hey, Ron, you forgot to put the Best Film Editing nominees: “The Bourne Ultimatum” (Universal) Christopher Rouse “The Diving Bell and the Butterfly” (Miramax/Pathé Renn) Juliette Welfling “Into the Wild” (Paramount Vantage and River Road Entertainment) Jay Cassidy “No Country for Old...
Batman Begins was another good film that was ruined by handheld camerawork. The fight scenes were impossible to follow due to the shaky cam. I hope they don't repeat this in The Dark Knight.
I also noticed that there no musical score for pretty much the entire film. Which is strange considering that Carter Burwell (who has scored all the Coens' films) was given a credit in No Country. This is definitely a film that requires repeat viewings to fully comprehend. I'm definitely...
Things have changed from the previous generation of consoles. The PS2 had a sustantial amount of exclusive third party titles and was a huge part of its success. For the PS3, practically all their exclusives are first party only. As a 360 (and Wii) owner, it's hard to justify forking over...
Yeah, the only question will be whether it will be on HD DVD or Blu Ray, since both Paramount and Miramax (Disney) are distributing the film. I can't wait to see the film this weekend. In the meantime, I'm preparing myself by watching a Coen bros. marathon.

Actually, Fox now has home video rights to the MGM/UA library. So getting three companies to coordinate a box set would be difficult. Though I must admit it would be nice to see The Killing and Paths of Glory receive anamorphic widescreen transfers like the WB Kubrick titles.
I finally got a chance to watch the deluxe Full Metal Jacket in HD DVD. I've never seen the previous HD version, but I must say that the film has never looked better. And it looks alot better than A Clockwork Orange.
I was able to pick up most of the Kubricks on HD DVD, except for EWS. Only one Best Buy in NYC has it in stock. I'm going after work to pick it up. According to DVD Beaver, the transfer of the HD/Blu Ray version of A Clockwork Orange is a dissapointment...
From what I can recall, the IMAX cut featured the narc showing Sam the Rachael Leigh Cook "egg smashing" anti drug commercial after he's arrested for reporting Bumblebee getting stolen.
I find the Transformers HD DVD audio to be similar to the Revenge of the Sith DVD. The audio is underwhelming if you set the volume at the normal setting, but turn it up 3-4 dBs and it sounds awesome.
Hey, if it helps... I can admit that I was wrong. :D If you look at the thread for the anamorphic Dr. Strangelove DVD, you can see that I was in support for the original theatrical ARs for the Kubrick films. I can't wait to get the Kubrick titles in HD DVD. If the SD DVD of Barry Lyndon is...
All the reviews I've read give the HD DVD audio 5/5 scores and label it as reference material. So I don't see the lack of a lossless track as a problem.
I also saw the Final Cut at the Ziegfeld. A rather large crowd for a matinee. Seeing it on the big screen was impressive, especially the audio, which had a lot more punch than the current DVD.
After the show, they were handing out surveys asking how the Final Cut was and if we would consider...
