This receiver plus a new projector would be an ideal upgrade for my home theater.
Listening to movies in a dolby atmos theater is amazing. Would love to experience even a part of that at home.
Thanks Tory, I hadn't really considered that much... though that's where we usually get gifts for them. That would solve the power issue... but they are significantly more expensive, and our friends are actually coming to stay with us for xmas... So, i was hoping for a deal, and a gift in...
Rick, I have a question about the Philips 642... I am looking to get a gift for a U.K. friend who wants to watch US TV show DVDs. I think this player has the NTSC/PAL conversion, and has the region-free hacks. Would this work for my friend? It has all the capabilities it would need in...
I'm glad you got to take advantage of the deal... I was really excited about it... I remember spending $150 to get a refurbished 14-hr tivo two or three years ago and thought it was a steal... I guess the referral thing was against the rules... so that's removed now... [but thanks...
Also, the service is required in order to receive the rebate... just an FYI. But it is worth it. This is my second Tivo for the house, and I cannot recommend them enough. Once you get used to having one, you really can't watch TV without it... And this is about as good a deal as you will...
They did not have it tagged, nor did they know anything about it when I picked up mine either... I think Best Buy Corporate just marked them all down in the computers, since they are technically older models now (though they are functionally the same). I had to talk them into pulling one down...
If anyone needs a good reason to get a Tivo... Best Buy dropped the prices on the slightly older 40 hour Series 2 Tivos down to $149 (from $199). Also, Tivo just uppped the rebate amount on Tivos to $100 bucks. If interested... rush to your nearest Best Buy and grab one of the boxes...
I think a lot of people are choosing the 92" because of the large offset of the projector... I was looking at those two sizes and chose the 92" because the 106" would have been lower than my center speaker... Be sure to look into the offset when considering your screen size... especially if...
From what I have heard... There is still 4:3ish light spill when you use the X1 in 16:9... You will need to have a good light absorbing border. I have a 4805 on order, and think if you are only watching DVDs (primarily widescreen content) you'd be better served by one also... hope it...

Also, while you are moving... your aim will kinda suck... (hence the drawn out death dancing) When I play- the the first thing I try when I encounter someone is to stop/duck/aim for head in one motion... then fire away (short bursts!) The other player will often try to run around, dodging...
Unless you and your wife both have one, you cannot play mulitplayer... In multiplayer mode everyone needs a GBA [one player does not use a GC controller]... Kind of a bummer since I have a GBA but none of my gaming buddies have one. --kyle
Talk about reading the title wrong... I thought this was supposed to be in software... Ape Xtreme? ~~ Some sort of sequel to Ape Escape?... I think they need to look into changing the name of their system... JMHO
I'm not even sure you can use the gift cards online.. I have one from Christmas and it says "...in any U.S Best Buy retail location..." I could be wrong but I interpreted that to mean not online... in store only. --kyle
Did you like Desperado too? I really liked them both, but they have a different feel to them. If you liked Desperado, I really think you'll like this one too. If you only liked El Mariachi then I don't know. --kyle
As for the Gamecube... there is no digital audio outputs. For surround sound you just use the L/R output. For pro logic 2, your receiver must be able to process it... otherwise the best you will get is plain 'ol pro logic. hope it helps, --kyle
Not too bad considering (San Diego) 20 minutes in the morning... 35-60 minutes on the way home... about 15 minutes without traffic... I-5 through the merge... it could be worse... at least I'm not on the I-15... --kyle
San Diego is a very spread out place... I'd really suggest a car... Some things I'd suggest... - The Zoo... (it's cheap too) Prefer the Wild Animal Park... but it's pretty far. - Coronado - Since you're going to the con... Hit gaslamp and horton plaza - La Jolla... - North...
We just bought a Sony too... the DCR-TRV22 actually. Very happy with it. I read that it is slightly (probably very slightly) better in low light situations than the DCR-TRV33... For the $100 difference in price between it and the DCR-TRV33, I didn't see anything that really made me want to...
Lee... I don't think the one you listed has the 5.1 channel outputs... at least according to bestbuy.com. It says there are Dolby/DTS decoders, but it says it doesn't have the 5.1 channel output. It seems odd though... what good is one without the other? --kyle
I don't think you can go directly from the ps2 to your stereo. You'd probably need to buy a seperate DVD player that has 5.1 Channel Outputs, since it doesn't sound like your stereo has any digital audio inputs. I'm not sure if the stereo has a dolby digital decoder on board, but if not...
