    New to 3-D-- Glasses question

Hi guys- I've been off this forum for a while, and I've come back because I'm doing an across-the-board upgrade of my setup. I've purchased a Panasonic ae-8000u 3d projector, and the seller added 2 pairs of Xpand 3d glasses to the bundle. I've been looking on Amazon at the 3d glasses, and they...

Disney World: what should I know and do?

We have been to DW at least 10 times in the last 17 years. The last time we went (about 2 years ago, so we're overdue!), I found this website: Walt Disney World Vacation Planner for Orlando, Florida Vacation TourGuideMiKE Without a doubt, this is the best $25 that I ever spent in preparing...

    Did I hurt my Ipod

You should also make sure that the ipod volume is not up too high-- start it off low and raise it as you need to. I get distortion if the ipod's volume is too high.

Various versions of A Christmas Carol....

Charles, I believe Christmas Present carries a Horn of Plenty, and he sprinkles "the contents" on the people he passes by. After reading through many of the reviews of the 40 versions on the website referred to above, I have to mention Muppett's version again. First, Michael Caine has a great...

Various versions of A Christmas Carol....

Matthew, thanks for this link. Very cool. I wonder how many of these I've seen-- definitely not 40!

Various versions of A Christmas Carol....

Johnny Angell-- sorry for the slow reply-- yes, in the book, the ghosts are "scheduled" to appear on three consecutive nights. Silver Wook-- "Ignorance and Want" also appear in the Stewart version as skinny, creepy kids.

Various versions of A Christmas Carol....

I don't believe the Stewart version has him go back to find his fiance, but it is the only one with that guy from "The Wire" Muppets is the only one with Marley brothers-- Jacob and Robert (get it, Bob Marley?). Maybe it doesn't count for your criteria, but I find the Patrick Stewart audio...

    2008 MLB Playoffs thread

What a great game (game 5 part deux). All baseball games should be 4 innings long. Every pitch/ at bat/ out/ hit/ run matters. And the game was over in plenty of time to riot and loot center city Philadelphia. I'll be at the parade tomorrow with my three boys. Look for us-- we'll be in red.

    2008 MLB Playoffs thread

Buck and McCarver mentioned a few times about the batters having to get used to picking up the ball in that dome. Hopefully they will start hitting again once they are in the friendly confines of CBP. How long has it been since the Phillies had a rally?

    2008 MLB Playoffs thread

I don't usually like to jump all over the umpires, but they have really gotten some big calls wrong. Hamels' balk/ not balk in Game 1, the widening strike zone in Game 1, the strike out/ not strike out in Game 2, Rollins hit by pitch/ not hit by pitch in Game 2. These had big impact in these...

    SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 6, 1975

Aaron, nicely done. What was the source for your info? The new Saturday morning cartoons were the only consolation for the startup of the new school year. ABC always seemed to have the best lineup, plus, if I'm not mistaken, they also had Schoolhouse Rock. Does anyone remember when they...

What power tool do you thing is associated with one's manhood?

Sawzall, cutting torch, chainsaw, nail gun-- anything you can easily kill someone (including yourself) with. Must also be loud and hand-held for optimal manliness. Since the chainsaw is also the smelliest and dirtiest of these four, I guess that's my choice.

    Car inspections and the CEL

I can't say from personal experience, but I have been told (by a mechanic who does NJ reinspections) that the check engine light is an automatic fail. I really doubt that the guys at the inspection center would check any code. Maybe you could sweet-talk your way through if your emissions pass...

    I Need A Vacation!

The pet answer is easy-- kennel them, and you don't have anything to worry about. Our dog loves the kennel. Family members hate taking care of other peoples' pets no matter what they tell you. I think you'll spend your $3k budget on hotels alone for a 2 week vacation (14-15 nights @ $200 a...

    The Nightmare Before Christmas 3-D

Saw it yesterday and was very impressed. I saw this only once in the theater back in '93, and I have since bought both DVD versions. I was very impressed by the amount of detail seeing it on the big screen again. Lots of things I had never noticed before, and I have watched this movie a hundred...

    The War

SUrprised that there are no comments on last night's episode yet. I didn't see the whole thing, but I thought it got off to kind of a slow start (kind of like the first few episodes of KB's Baseball)... maybe I was just tired. I'll be watching this whole thing no matter what.

new channel sept 21, THE WHO

I agree about the album sides. I had tapes of most of their pre-Tommy albums, and I haven't listened to them in years. I've only picked up a handful of their albums on cd, so it would be a blast to hear whole sides of The Who Sell Out, The Who Sings My Generation, etc. Pete must have so much...

new channel sept 21, THE WHO

I just reread the press release. I wonder how much Pete and Roger actually "produce" on this channel. It might explain why it is weighted so heavily to very early stuff and later stuff, and not much "middle" stuff, if that makes any sense.

new channel sept 21, THE WHO

I listened to a lot of this channel this weekend. I agree that there has not been a lot of variety. I didn't hear many "album cuts" other than Who's Next and Who Are You. There were a few songs that I didn't recognize that I assume were new, including a Pete song that I didn't recognize. I...

I haven't read this whole thread in order to avoid spoilers, so please excuse me if this has been covered. What are your opinions about taking small kids (9 and 6 years old) to this movie? They can usually handle Star Wars type violence, but I'm trying to avoid scary/ gory stuff. My guess is...

The movies' most visceral DEATH SCENES...

Elias' death scene in Platoon always got me-- they're flying over him and Charlie Sheen realizes that they've left him behind...Elias falls to his knees and raises his arms...very moving stuff. It's been a while since I've seen it, and I wonder if it holds up. Whoever said Big Fish-- good...
