Hello all...
Got my pics added to the theaters section of this site, until I find the time to build myself a site. Here's the link: http://www.hometheaterforum.com/bbs/...ent/28850.html
It's a small, modest setup in a small midwest apartment/townhome. Nothing too special, but I think it's...
Just to close this out...
I bought the remote, and it controled all of my devices, except for the TiVo, right out of the box. Took me all of about 5 minutes to learn the TiVo from its remote to the AV2100.
I'm very happy with it, so far.
------------------
I also was interested in the TiVo, using it with the timer and not subscribing (which IS possible). But, if you give the TiVo service a try with the free period, I'm sure you'll stick with it. It's amazing, and worth every penny of my $10/mo. And it's even a better deal if you can afford the...
Does anyone know if this remote will control most of the TiVo functions?
I have a 100% Sony system (Sony receiver, Sony TV, Sony DVD player, Sony TiVo unit, and Sony Audio components), and I'm wondering is this remote will get me down to the elusive one-remote-for-all setup. My A/V receiver's...
Found the answer to this one myself on TiVo's site.
Apparently you can't use the serial connection on cable boxes...only on satelittes. Sooo....I've got to use the ghetto IR Blaster. Ah well. I'm sure it'll still work fine.
Thanks!
I got it! I went today and bought the Sony standalone TiVo unit thanks to all your guys answering my questions. The thing is currently making the call to get the programming data and says it will take 2-3 hours after that to process.
Now, here's my question...
My cable box has a serial...
Ok, so between you guys and a 10% off cupon I got form best Buy in the mail, I'm convinced. Going sometime this weekend to get my TiVo. I'll get the subscription, too. You guys talked me into it. :)
On last question, though...
Can I pay for the subscription month by month for a few months and...
Like I said, I probably will get the sub. I just wondered if I could buy the unit and add the sub later.
Additionally, it'd be nice to know that if the TiVo service was ever down, I could still use the unit to record TV.
I'm mostly looking at getting the thing to replace my outdated VCR. So I...
Thanks so much, Frank!
My idea is that I may go buy the thing early next month (after getting piad), and try it w/o the subscription to see how I like it. Then I can decide wheter or not I need the TiVo subscription. If so, I'll say up the $200 and pay the lifetime way.
Thanks alot!
Jeff
I'm new to the whole Digital Recorder thing. Am looking into TiVo.
I'm curious...is it possible to use the unit (probably the Sony standalone one, without the DirecTV built in) withouth a subscription to the TiVo service?
I don't have a big beef with programming the thing like a VCR if it...
