Sound effects wise, it was great. Great steering, ambiance etc. But the bass was lacking IMO. It didn't have the power of the first 2 movies. Not even close.
I watched Revenge of the Sith this weekend and I must say that I was not impressed at all. I also watched Land of the Dead and was more impressed with the sound in that movie. Everytime they shot the 'sky flowers' I could feel the concussion blasts in my chest.
Yes, by all means watch it again. I've seen it 9 times already and I still love it. By far this is the best movie for sound, picture and general appeal.
Hi, I've had my 1014 for a few months now and I've been happy with the sound of the receiver but unhappy with the sound from my subwoofer. The sub was part of a boxing day special and the 5 speakers sound great and it was only the sub that was lacking so I bought the system anyway knowing that I...
I bought mine from 2001 back in December for $499. They were selling it for $699 at the time and I got them to match Best Buy's boxing day price of $499 even though I missed out on the sale :D . I believe that 2001 has price protection so you should be able to make good on Best Buy's sale price...
I don't see this being a problem. There are other manufacturers that are doing this over component without any problems and as I stated, my $45 dvd player overlays OSD over component without any degredation to the picture. IMO Pioneer was either lazy or they wanted to give folks a reason to move...
I was able to pick up the 1014 for $499 Cdn. after purchasing the 814 and not being happy with it. I am happy now with the 1014 with one exception. Why in god's name doesn't this thing have OSD?! Even $40 DVD players can overlay an OSD on the screen so why can't a $699 (MSRP) receiver? Since...
I believe HT now has a new bass champion. I watched the screener for 'The Incredibles' and I was _BLOWN_AWAY_ by the INSANE levels of bass in this movie. I don't want to give away any spoilers but wow! Ming, if you get a chance to chart this please do!
I just finished watching 'King Arthur' and I was suprised at the amount of LFE on the breaking of the ice when they first fight the Saxxons. Has anyone that has seen this movie notice the insane levels of bass?
I bought mine from Musonic on Kingston Road, just east of Morningside, a couple of years ago. I'm not sure if they still sell them but it wouldn't hurt to try.
I haven't purchased electronics on any buy now pay later offers but I had done this when I was finishing my basement including the dedicated theatre. With the carpet that we decided to go with and the amount of sq. footage, it was the single most expensive purchase of the final project. I didn't...
Chris, I had 1 disc in the changer at the time. The 5 seconds it took I did hear the carousel spin around, presumably to check if there were any discs inside. I'll try to load it up tonight and see what if any difference that makes. If I have some time I'll also try to get that component cable...
Chris, I've had no problems with any discs in my 85. Either you got a bum unit or they've changed things (for the worse) on the 87. I also saw your other thread on AVS. I just checked my 85 and it takes less than 5 seconds to eject the tray from off. Maybe you should start looking for an 85...
Has anyone watched Starship Troopers 2? It's a mediocre movie but I found there were a few scenes in there that suprised me with the amount of bass. I don't have any time stamps but IIRC the first 10-15 minutes should provide a few examples.
Man, I feel for you guys that have to deal with WAF. My wife is totally understanding and lets me do pretty much anything I want. Once the bills are paid and there's food in the fridge she doesn't care what I spend my money on as long as it keeps me home and keeps me happy.
Chris, just go in and talk to a manager. They're usually pretty good about giving you the sale price if it's a day or so after the sale. Besides, stop waffling on the colour and go buy the thing! :D
Thanks for the review. I have a quick question. Once you've connected your PC to the Changer and have inputted all of your movies do you still need to interact with your PC to play movies or is all the control done through the Sony but with a new interface?
Daman, any amplifier capable of handling at least a 4 ohm load is fine. I'm currently using a Yamaha 2092 receiver which is major overkill but it works until I find something more suitable. Parts Express sells plate amps that some have used with good results. Be warned that the plate amps are...
The probable reason why no one is answering is b/c this question seems to be asked once if not more a week. If you do a search you will find more posts than you'll ever want to read on this subject. Good luck!
That's great that they were able to create a flash chip of 90GB in size but at what cost? The last time I checked ordinary flash memory, i.e. Compact Flash, was many times more expensive per meg than a HD. I'm not sure what the cost of this particular technology in question is, but from what...
While I think that the Piracy issue is a good point for them to not include the HD, I don't think that removing the HD from the specs would eliminate piracy. All that would happen is they would find another way to pirate the games, i.e. creating a hack that allowed you to load the games from...
