I've been doing some searching, but I haven't found a good answer yet. My wife is visually impaired and finds it very easy to control our Audiotron via the web interface. I want to see if I can get our Outlaw 950 (which has an RS-232 port on it) set up with something similar. I'm thinking...
I think it is a good improvement over Pro Logic. I just made the change recently and like it. It does a much better job than PL. I have PL in my car and drive a lot. I am very familiar with what it does (or doesn't) do. PLII does it much better... movies and music.
I can't answer the whole question as I don't bother with PIP. I have a digital cable box, which might be a bit different than your setup too. So, I have RCA cables going from the cable box to my pre/pro. I have an coax cable going from the cable box to my pre/pro. I have an s-video going from...
I agree that just because you have amps you aren't using in a receiver you don't lose flexibility when you want to upgrade. I just plunked down some money for a 950. I chose this because I didn't want the extra amplification. I didn't want to use more space in my rack to store a larger unit...
Nick, I do have a separates set up for $1,500. I just bought the 950 from audiogon.com for $750 and picked up a Rotel RMB-1075 for $750 as well. So, that's $1,500. It is a great set up. I also have a couple of norh monoblocks hooked up for a second zone as well. So, I've essentially split the...
I have a 1075... it heats up my 14x22-foot room. Seriously, this is the warmest room in the house. I never turn the amp off. I really like the way it sounds/performs. I can only imagine what the 1095 is like.
I'm getting very close to pulling the trigger myself. I have a few more days to decide before I lose my spot. I was deciding between the Rotel and the Outlaw, but since Rotel does not have a tuner built-in, I think I've knocked it off my list. I want to reduce the number of components to be...
I'm trying to decide whether to take the 950 they have waiting for me or wait and buy a preamp later. On the subject of credit cards, the prior poster is correct about not carrying a balance. I see it a little differently. It is your decision, obviously, but I wouldn't do it unless you can...
I just pulled the trigger on a used Rotel RMB-1075 for $695. I was watching a few ebay auctions... one 1075 went for $785. The other went for $850. I didn't want to go over $750, so I feel good about the price. What do people think? $695 for a 6-month-old amp that wasn't used much? I...
Hmm... I'm curious what the price and release date for this amp will be for sure. I need to decide on the 950 since I got my letter the other day. Marrying it to a 7x100 amp would be a perfect fit for my room. The price will have to be right though. If it is too high, I'd rather get the 5x200...
When I was in a townhouse, in a room that was less-than-ideal, I used the DSPs in my A3090 all the time. Now that I have a room that's rectangular with a ceiling (the townhouse was cathedral ceiling), I have found less use for the DSPs. Maybe it is just because I have to take the time to tweak...
Sorry for the confusion. In the end, there will only be one source, and as a result, music from upstairs can be played downstairs (or the movie can be seen/heard while downstairs). Right now I have a source on both floors. I only want to have the source up in the HT room. Thanks
I don't want to lead this thread too much, but I'm in the process of figuring out how to wire my HT system to my two-channel system. I want to be able to play the same music on the first and second floors. Also, I have a DVD-Audios that I want to be able to play downstairs with the DVD player...
Obviously it depends on your playing preference. I chose to connect my computer to my system to have access to what is approaching 4,000, 160kbps-encoded songs. I think I'm up to 35meg at this point. I spent more money that $150, but still felt it was something to mention. While it would be nice...
I've been planning on getting a 950, but I'm about to plunk down some dough on a Rotel instead. I know it will cost me a lot more to do this, but in the end I'll have a more flexible unit. My A3090 seems to be showing a little age, which gives me an excuse to upgrade that to the 1066. I'm going...
How much are you going to spend on the Z1? I thought they were around $2700-3000. If that's the case, you don't have to spend much more for a pre/pro and amp. Actually, going the Outlaw route (if you are the patient type) would be ~$2700 I believe. This would be a better value, IMO. You'd...
Hex strings, huh? I'd love to get some more info on this. Do you have anything you could send me? Or a link to the info? Thanks! I just want basic functionality from a web site ... like volume mute, -5db, -10db, -15db, etc., select CD, select tuner, DVD. Even if I have to write a little VB...
I'm going to piggy back with a related question. Can I control both of these units from my computer? I see in the Rotel manual they mention that you can control the 1066 with third-party software. What third-party software will do this? Will it also work with the 950? This is a key...
I called my local Rotel dealer the other day. He's telling me $1500+ for the RSP-1066. Anyone have any advice regarding getting this down a bit? I'm going to see about more dealers nearby, but can I order this mailorder from somewhere?
My 3090's left channel isn't working anymore. I got home last weekend and knew something was wrong. I got home this weekend and did some looking around. I'm sure it is something in the 3090. :-( I'm going to have to start looking for my HT setup now too. I was just about to get a pre-amp for...
Jed: You may be right, and if you have any suggestions please do share. I may end up moving this to my HT setup upstairs, but not right away. I have some odd criteria in my wife-factor that can make my decisions seem strange. Things need to be very easy to use. Put it this way, most appliances...
I have a pair of LeAmps, and I've chosen the 'leave it on' route too. I only turn it off when nobody will be listening for more than a few days. I'm lucky in that my receiver doesn't produce any popping when I turn the receiver off. But, normally, I just leave the receiver on as well.
I agree with the vote for the 755/770. I have two LeAmps in my two-channel set up. I LOVE them. They are great. But I'm leaning towards a 770 for the HT setup when I make my next change (can't wait for that!!). I imagine you'd get a slight sonic improvement using a bunch of LeAmps, but I can't...
I just like that quote! He starts review out by saying you can't even call them on the phone, then he uses the "give 'em a ring" phrase. ;-)
We know what he means of course, but still funny.
