Matt, If you pick up a used 2 channel amp to drive your mains you will be OK. For about $200 you can find a good used 2 channel amp. I think this combination is the way to go. I use an external amp to power my front 3 speakers.
Matt, I own a 45TX and have never had it shut down. If you have been reading the thread here and AVS forum. One of the people that had shut down traced it back to a bad speaker. I am sure he will chime in soon. The 45TX is only rated to drive speakers over 6 ohms. If you go with a 4 ohm...
David, What exactly do you mean by bi-amp mode? DO you mean that you want to bi-amp your rear speakers? If so are you doing this with an external amp? You need to give us more detail.
Guy, The volume of the 45tx is adjustable in 1db increments. That is pretty standard for receviers. Most people can not tell 1db increments from each other.
Dahlquist PDQ-8307 speakers they are a 3 way design with a 1" silk dome tweeter, 6.5" midrange, and 8" woofer.
You can see a review at: http://www.innerear.on.ca/economist/dahlquist.html
The dust caps on both mid ranges and 1 woofer are slighty pressed in( gotta hate those friends with...
Dave, I have had my 45 for about 3 weeks now. I love mine also. I had a Sony DB930. I always found the sound closer to bright then neutral. I also ran my Sony and run the 45 with a Carver AV705X driving the front speakers. The 45 has a much more neutral sound to it. Really laid back. If...
Brian, I have the 45TX, I picked it up locally for ~$900. I was also considering the 525, Denon 3803, Sony 4ES, Onkyo 898. Here was my thoughts, I was looking at the Sony because it got good reviews and my old unit was a Sony so I would not have to reprogram my Pronto remote. The 3803 was...
I have an extra 12" Shiva MKII driver for sale. It was used in a sealed enclosure in a 2 channel system I was running.

If you go over to www.audioholics.com they have a lot of good technical information on that sort of stuff. This is the page I am specifically talking about : http://www.audioholics.com/techtips/...nceptions1.php
They say that while certain manufactures claim high current +/- 50,60,70 amps what...
Scott, I would check out OneCall. I have purchases seveal things through them. They ship everything FedEx and aare an authorized dealer. I would highly recomend them,
I was looking at the Rotel and something caught my eye. On the web page and in their product brochure it states the power consumption of the 1055 to be 850 watts. This at first said to me that it would have ample power. However, after looking at the back of a unit it says 450 watts. So maybe the...
Brian, THe 45TX will play 7.1 instead of 6.1 if both speakers are there. I have a PDF of the manual if you want I can send it to you. It is big about 6mb. I just purchased the 45TX. I was looking at the Sony 4ES, Onkyo 898, and 45TX. I went with the Pioneer. The MCACC was a big factor for...
I believe that it what it supposed to do. The pure audio button passes the signal without altering it. It it were to apply a crossover to it it would alter it.
Brian, I own that Amp already, you will love it. It is a great piece of equipment. I am in the process of upgrading my system and am going to buy the 45TX. Everyone that owns one loves it. THe auto calibration is a great feature. I would use the Carver to run the front 3 speakers and let...
Over at AVS forum someone compared the 45TX to the new Sony 4ES to mu surpise he said the sony cast a wider cleaner soundstage. He called the Pioneer more subtle then the Sony. He however said he like a more forward (bright) sound so chose the Sony over the Elite. I think I will be getting the...
I have finally narrowed it down to these 2 receviers. Both can be had for about the same price. Which one would you guys recomend and why. I like that the 45tx has the MCACC auto setup thing. They both seem almost exactly identical in specs. I will power my front speakers with a Carver...
DOes anyone know if the 4es has the adjustable cross over settings like the 5es did? The 5es would let you choose the cross over frequencies in 10 hz steps for the speakers to the sub. It mentions this on Crutchfields 5es info page but there is no mention of this in the 4es page. Can anyone...
Mike, I have heard the Rockets. They are an impressive sounding speaker. I am in a similar position. I have a pair of Dahlquist speakers now which I enjoy greatly and sound very good to me. I have considered upgrading but don't think that the money spent on a Rocket set-up would be worth it...
I am in the market for a new reciver and considering both of these. I can pick them up for pretty close to the same price. What do people think? Here is what I have gathered: Sony has 2 multichannel inputs, the Pioneer 1 Sony DTS 96/24 decoding, Pioneer ? Pioneer THX certification, Sony...
