My parts are back-ordered but my problem is not that bad. MY biggest concern is whether or not the service techs have any idea what they're doing. The worst part is they need to remove the part of the TV where the boards are and take it back to their shop to solder the new resistors on. I guess...
I would go directly to the TV unless the TV doesn't have enough connections for you. Right now I use my 2 component connections on my Sony for DVD and PS2.
There is a service bulletin for the affected sets. Mine just recently started to flicker. I was told the CRT's are on back-order. I'll find out today how long the wait is. Personally, I'd rather exchange my set for a new, unaffected model but I don't know if Best Buy would agree to that.
I was under the impression that the only changes made with the "II" series was the color and the protection for the tweeters. Personally I'd do the 5.1 with the S36's over 7.1.There's just not enough 7.1 or even 6.1 material to warrant it.
You could get a smaller speaker system for much less than 300 per speaker. Something like the Energy Take 5.1 would be good if you're putting this into a small room. It doesn't make much sense to buy a HUGE sound system when the display is only 32". Start with a nice small setup and wait until...
Have you set the inputs for the correct component. Some times you have to assign cetain components to certain inputs. Also, make sure you're switching to that component (using the receiver). For the TV you may have to either turn off the internal TV speakers or set the audio output in the TV...
Why not get a simple audio or audio/video switch from Radio Shack. That way you don't need the "Y" cables and you can just label the buttons "DVD" or "VCR".
The speakers that are run through the sub will use the sub's cross-over. The micro, small, large has nothing to do with size, it has to do with a speakers frequency response. Generally small is best unless you have towers that are able to go low (>40hz)
Here's the only info I've found:

Percussion on Fire (JAZZIZ Magazine)
Steve Grover "Blackbird Suite IV ‘A Man and a Woman Are One’"

Todd Isler "Hobroken"

The Panasonic's (RP82, RP-62 and CP-72) have the very good Faroudja chipset. I don't think I've seen or heard anyone unhappy with the picture quality of those players. There's nothing wrong with the Toshiba's, the 4700/4800 has a nice picture as well. The sound should all be handled by your...
If you have a system with Towers that go down to 40Hz (and do it well) why send that info to the sub? The H/K has a 60Hz crossover and I think that's perfect for my towers which have no problem going down to 60hz.
Picked up the H/K 520 this weekend. Got it at Circuit City so I could try it out for 30 days. First impressions are that it helps my speakers come alive. I definitely notice a difference but it's not all good. One some CD's I noticed a lack on detail but I really love the adjustable cross-over...
I'd be interested too, I picked up the 520 yesterday and so far I think it sounds great. If the only difference is in features and not in DAC's or Amps then I would be happy keeping the 520.
My point was definitely not to eliminate the composite and S-video connections but to find a happy medium between all of the connections. For computer geeks out there, I'm sure you've seen the Abit motherboards that have no legacy connectors. Is it for all users, no, but for those who don't need...
I'm not saying do away with all of the composite/s-video I'm just saying that the more $$$ recievers should have the features that are more common of the equipment.
What's the employee cost for the 5590, you can PM if you don't want to make it public. Brian, which speakers do you have? I had a feeling H/K just did it a little different because it really wasn't making sense. Does BB has the 5590 now or is it coming soon? I'm closest to the Rockville store so...
