Makes sense! I am an idiot! 1080i material will fill a 1080i TV and to adjust a 1080i picture would be impossible...I think. Was that a stupid question I asked or what?
I did not think my Sony 65xBR10W locked into any mode but I just got HD reception and the set locks into full mode when getting the 1080i signal. Anyone's set allow you to switch picture modes when recieving a 1080i signal?

I hate to say it but if you cannot get satellite (and there are only like 2 or 3 HD cahnnels anyway) and if you cannot use an antennae to get your local HD OTA broadcasts then you will not get any HD. Terrestrial cable has NO HD. The only way to get it is through Satellite or Antennae.
Our local dealer here in LA had about 4 HD100 boxes last week. I bought one for 799$. Their policy is that if you even open the cardboard box the unit comes in you CANNOT return it. So I asked around and a new friend told me that he had the Sony box earlier that week and ended up selling it...
Have you been able to try it out yet? I don't know where I can get it. Crutchfield said it is backordered and that there are production problems and my local dealer has not seen it yet. Where did you get it? As for the differnce between an anamorphic DVD and an HD program a prgressive...
