Great! Looks like August 25th will not be a problem for me.

Aw, nuts, I'm out of town from the 4th through that whole week.
Ah well, hope it's a blast, everyone!

I received the 2.01 upgrade a month or two ago for both units, and have had no problems at all.
For the vast majority of people there have been no problems. If you go over to the TiVo forum on AVSForum you're going to see a lot of complaints because generally the people having no trouble don't...
Ah. I obviously took in some bad info at some point; I was certain that DRC was just the comb filter.
In any event I tried the composite-through-comb-filter thing over my lunch break, and quality dropped hugely, so whatever is being done in the comb-filter in my KV-36FS12 is inferior to good...
Been running 100% S-Video in my HT (sources are primarily TiVo and DVD, which both output S-Video natively) since I first figured out which cable was which. I could definitely see the difference between S-Vid and composite, even on my old 27" TV.
I upgraded to a non-XBR Wega a few months ago...
John:
I have the *exact* same dark-bar problem with my 36FS12 (as well as a geometry issue or two), and am opting to demand an exchange this coming week. I'm in the same boat regarding pessimism for new units, too. For me it's come down to the realization that if I have to live with this unit's...
I've got two Philips TiVo units, 14 and 30 hours. Had the 14-hour for about a year, and the 30-hour for around 9 months. Not a single reliability problem with either.

After a read of the thread you forwarded, I think the mention was made that a Homeowners' Association (HOA) can't ban dishes outside a window, but as soon as the guy mentioned he was in an apartment and there was no HOA (i.e. you're renting, not an owner), everyone backed off.
There's a pretty...
Scott:
I'm pretty sure that's out, because the *look* of the installation is the primary reason for the restriction, not just hole-drilling.
I imagine the limitation as it was explained to me as a force-field extending up from the base of the foundation, so unless the window is recessed into...
Kevin, thanks for the quick reply!
Yeah, management doesn't allow exterior dish mounting unless you put it inside a patio or landing that is part of your unit, and my patio faces the exact wrong way. FCC regs allow them to make the distinction.
$5 a month I can do, considering I'm paying...
Hello!
I'm tired of cable, and really like the idea of moving to a satellite system for getting my TV. I have a few basic questions first, though.
1) I live in an apartment, and while the management has no real problem with dishes being installed, my particular building is situated badly...
Chris:
Thanks for the pincushion tips. I figured as much re: flag-waving.
Here's a new kettle of fish: is the flag-waving deal enough of a defect (i.e., not fixable) that I should risk requesting that a replacement unit be brought out? I'm still under warranty, but I don't want to risk...
I've got a Wega KV-36FS16, and have had an absolute ball tweaking and calibrating it to a fare-thee-well. It's a great set for my current needs. :)
I've hopped into service mode and disabled red push, killed off SVM, and generally I'm satisfied with the picture I'm getting. However, there're...
Just wanted to put in my $0.02 and agree.
I've got a dinky 27" Philips Magnavox TP2785CI direct-view, and it can do the "squeeze," but it leaves a flashy white line of garbage at the new top of the raster when squeezed.
It was mainly to hide the flashy line that I went out and grabbed a $2.50...
