On my RP56, I just did 6 repetitions of the sequence:
- Discrete Power ON
- Toggle Power, to turn it off
and the RP56 works fine -- did not get stuck on "CLOSE" tray.
I also tried it with the AVIA disc in the tray, and the sequence continues to work fine.
So, this is the appropriate...
Verrry interesting. The panasonics may all share a common glitch when using discrete power remote commands.
I forget what happens when a disc is present -- I'll have to try it when I'm at home.
I have noticed similar peculiar behaviour on the RP56, when I am trying to turn it on/off as part of a remote Macro.

you will probably find your answer at the Forums of DV magazine . Look for the audio forum, moderated by professional soundman Jay Rose. He has also written an excellent book on audio for DV, am too lazy to run upstairs and recall the title!
It may not be as simple as just a new mic (it's...
depends what is meant by "slight improvement" - I might cahracterize the diff between the TV's internal deinterlacer & a progressive DVD player as significant. I'm using a Tosh SD6200 player and 65H80 set (with the inverse 3:2 pulldown detection "enabled").
When deinterlacing is done in the...
TW1 on my 65H80 was poorly setup at the factory - way too much horizontal stretch near the center. I don't think my problem was uncommon. Unless you compare your Wide1 service convergence grid to either a screen template or to the grid dimensions in the service manual, you won't know what you...
re the problem Craig posted about-
the crimp connectors are definitely different sizes, because RG & RG59 are different dimensions.
Another reason why it's easier to standardize on the RG6 -- fewer different connector types to mess with.
the primary functional difference between RG6 and RG59 is in frequency bandwidth.
Satellite signals from a dish's LNB are up to approx 2 GHz, whereas ordinary cable and UHF/VHF broadcast is around 0.8 GHz maximum (UHF channel 69).
RG59 will attenuate a satellite signal too much, and you might...
To avoid the problem JerryLA had (driving a ground rod damages a hidden underground pipe or electrical cable)-- in many regions, there are underground utility detection services that will come out to your house ("free - no charge") and locate these underground utilities. Sometimes it is done by...
easiest way to pound in a rod -
Go to an construction equipment rental yard and rent a large size (>1" hole rating) rotary hammer (eg Milwaukee, Bosch, etc) with an SDS-plus or splined chuck.
A 1/2" diameter rod should loosely fit into the chuck, a 5/8" rod may or may not.
Set the rotary...
Markertek has speaker cloth, in both "beige/tan" and "white/bone" colors, in a couple of different fabric materials. -- I've been looking for cloth, too, although I haven't yet ordered any. Price is about $20 per linear yard (by 33"-36" wide).
Many of you already know that Markertek is a large...
DISH's aiming program says the elevation of the 61.5 longitude satellite would be just 19 degrees.
I could just miss the local obstructions if I mounted a dish at the highest point on my roof, but am concerned about a deteriorated or non-existent signal from aiming so close to the horizon.
Is...
