In EX mode the back surrounds are derived from the side surrounds, as oppossed to the SX mode, where the back surrounds duplicate the side surrounds. Doesn't it feel good to get rid of all those extra cables and just use one. And doesn't it really feel good not to have to worry about all...
Mike, did you use the test tones from the 45A to adjust your channel levels? When I used the 47Ais' test tone the end result was basically thin so-so bass. When I used the test tones from a test disc, such as Chesky, VE, Avia, I got much much better results.
I have the 47Ai also. I connected my subwoofer directly to the Sub output on the DVD player. All speakers set to Small in the 47Ai. The Channel Level was at "Fix". I then played a 4.0 DVD-A recording(Morton Subotnik) and got plenty of bass. I conclude the 47Ai does do BM for DVD-A. Kevin...
Brian, return that cable and get your money back! The i-Link cable that comes with the 47Ai works just fine and there is no reason to replace it, unless you need a longer length.
Steve I would not recommend the DV-C36, and this is coming from a major Pioneer fanatic! It doesn't even have the PureCinema deinterlacer. If you're looking for a changer, then go for the Panasonic CP72. I definitely would not buy the DV-C36 if I were you.
Brian, the i-Link cable does come with the 47Ai and that's the only cable you need when paired with the 49TXi. You do not need an optical/coax cable. I-Link passes everything except video. MCACC works with all audio inputs. Sound & Vision did a review of the Pioneer combo in the...
Lewis I personally don't think there's a problem with just the Sub out. The output on All channels are down by about 6db and the internal test tones are crappy? Use a Test Disc (Avia, VE, Home Theater Tune-Up, or Chesky) when setting up this DVD player. That's my opinion.
Thanks Kevin! I'm assuming the 950 does BM on its Multi-Ch inputs, because you say you're using the 80hz crossover in the 950. If that's the case you should have no problem with the 47Ai. And even if the 950 didn't do BM on the 6-ch inputs you still wouldn't have a problem.
Ok Brian, this time I used the Dolby Digital Test Tones on the DVD-V portion of the Chesky Disc. And the results are the same. Sorry. I'm watching Star Wars:AOTC and the Bass and overall sound wouldn't disappoint anybody. I don't need any voltmeters or such to tell me anything. My ears are all I...
Kevin, assuming the 45A's Setup interface is the same as the 47Ai, in the Initial Settings->Speakers->Channel Level->Variable Menu, there are some symbols in a column to the right of the numbers representing the speakers level setting. If you highlight the symbol you get a test tone. Highlight...
Brian, what does this "boost" have to do with DVD-A and SACD? For DD/DTS sources I would think you would be using the digital connections anyway. And eventhough I used a DVD-A test disc, the test tones were valid and they're the same kind of tones you find on any other test disc.
I ran some tests on the 47Ai using its internal test tones and the test tones from Cheskys Ultimate DVD Setup Disc. I also switched between combinations of Small and Large Speakers in the 47Ai and in my 49TXi, and Direct/Adjust Modes on the 49TXi. To make a long story short, I think the internal...
