I haven't noticed any problem watching it, however, I haven't scrutinized it for any synch problems.
The only DVD I have ever noticed a synch problem on is "We Will Rock You: Queen Live in Concert". Specifically on the track "Killer Queen". FWIW
"Guaranteed to blow your mind...anytime"...
Before Returning it, see if it plays fine on a friend's player. Perhaps it is a firmware issue with your DVD player. It is not on the list of http://www.dvdreview.com/movies/FilmVault.html

Thanks for the review. I ordered mine a while back and haven't given it a second thought.
Now I am looking foreword to receiving it and giving it a spin.

What freaked me out, in light of recent events, was the following line from Sunday night's episode. (and I am paraphrasing)
"What you need to understand is, you're already dead. Once you know this, you will truly be a soldier. Then you can act without mercy, compunction or remorse"
This...
I started watching "Sex and the City" on HBO and got my wife hooked. She is not much into TV and doesn't like to get involved with new shows, but she could hardly wait to see new episodes of SAC each week. Having seen all the episodes so far however, I don't think I'll be collecting them on...
Michael,
I think my argument holds up just fine. When I watch a downconverted anamorphic DVD, my player is throwing away every 4th line. The picture is cleaned up and made to look normal by the player (using some method of extrapolation).
Some players do this much better than others. My...
My incomplete post yesterday is a result of the board going haywire. I was going to say what Michael said right after my post. Since the player will effectively create a plausible Stereo (if not a decent DPL) mix. Most HTF fans would rather see the space used for more extras or a higher...
I thought the DTS track was superb! It seems there are two kinds of mixes out there, the ones that place you in the front row and the ones that place you on stage. I prefer the front row. Nothing worse than horns and background vocals coming from the surrounds.
This is basically my beef...
So I'm standing there in Costco, eyeballing the new release of Ghandi. Really beautiful packaging, but I'm looking for specs.
Anamorphic Widescreen Good!
Languages: English Dolby Digital, French, Spanish.
No mention of 5.1 surround anywhere. I buy it, take it home, load the disk and...
I got to see this movie Joe Sixpack style. At the beach, in a rental house on a 21" mono (not properly calibrated) older TV. The movie was engaging enough that I enjoyed it thoroughly.
The movie I watched the following night was a 1990 flick called "State of Grace" also starring Ed Harris. I...
I've had a similar experience renting at BB. I knew the DVD had hit the street, but it was not on their new releases shelf. I asked the clerk if they had any DVDs in-house and he went into the back room and un-boxed me a brand new copy to rent.

Thanks for the replys gents. I guess an upgrade can wait until after I upgrade my display to 16X9. Unfortunately right now, I gain nothing from anamorphic transfers.
Here's hoping that lottery ticket is a winner!

Some DTS tracks just aren't worth upgrading for. 12 Monkeys for example (lose the extras for the same mix). SPR on the other hand, was worth the upgrade to DTS.
Has anybody compared the DTS versus the DD 5.1 versions of Twister?

For me, Criterion is there for releases of great films that no-one else has released. The restored version of "The Third Man" comes to mind. If you want this noir classic, (Some believe it belongs in every serious film collection) Criterion is the only game in town.

My Yamaha has a "Mono Movie" mode which does essentially the same thing. It places the sound up front using both the mains and center. I can also use the "5-Channel Stereo" mode and fill the room, but the mono movie mode has a better overall effect.

I would also mention that if you're a Jean Reno fan, this is one not to miss. As far as the scrore goes, I've had a CD of the soundtrack for years and it's one of my favorites.
All in all, a great movie and a great DVD.

When I first bought the DVD of "Fiddler on the Roof", I popped it in my player and, lo and behold, it was a DVD of the Nagano Olympics. The disk was stamped with the "Fiddler" logo and everything. I guess I should have saved it as a rarety item, but I was just PO'd at the time and took it back...
For what it's worth, it's not P&S, it's Open Matte. The 2.0 soundtrack is clean. It's a fun movie and right now, the current DVD release is the best way of seeing it.
I would like to see a 5.1 Widescreen presentation in the future however.
