It says in my manual that the RGB input jack "inputs five signals - R, G, B, H, and V - output from digital tuners and the like." I guess that rules out component to RGB cables like this one, huh? http://www.cablesforless.com/index.a...OD&ProdID=2240
A little more research has turned up the following cable. Will this work? http://www.ramelectronics.net/html/h...s.html#hd15rgb It says I would have to check my owner's manual to see if the cable would work. I've done just that, but it doesn't say anything.
I've just gotten my first big screen TV: a Pioneer Elite Pro-520. I absolutely love it! Problem is, it only has two component video connections. However, it does have an RGB input (that does accept HD signals). I've got an Xbox, HDTV tuner and DVD player, none of which has a RGB output. So I'm...
Well, it was a tough decision, folks, but I had to pass. I decided to upgrade my fiancee's crappy 24" TV with a 53" Pioneer Elite HDTV instead. The way I see it, i've already got a decent-sounding system already, but for all practical purposes, I didn't have a TV. :D So at this point, in the...
Thanks for the advice! My friend has two of these guys. They're both 21 years old. One is in perfect working order. The other one has one of the two channels working. He thinks it's the power supply. But unfortunately, they're out of warranty. I would pair them up with my Outlaw 1050 receiver...
A friend of mine is moving and willing to sell me his Bryston 4B for cheap. It's an awesome amp, but I'm concerned it will blow out my speakers. The amp is rated at 250 watts per channel. My Paradigm Mini Monitors are rated at 10-100 watts. Please advise!
I've been very happy with my Philips 30PW850H HD-ready set till now. However, it's only got 2 sets of component inputs, and that's not enough to accomodate my HD tuner, Xbox and-- hopefully-- a new DVD player. Is there any way around this problem? Should I just wait until the DVD recorders come...
I bought a refurb Elite receiver awhile back from Ubid and it did not work properly out of the box. Whether Pioneer has improved its refurb or not is uncertain, but I would never recommend buying refurbished electronics. You get what you pay for.
it's called ARBITRAGE, gentlemen.
and as long as the price of an item has varied from one place to another, people have been doing it. anybody ever heard of the CA energy crisis???
but I will warn ya'll: a friend of mine thought he could make a killing arbitraging digital camera over ebay...

Costco has a bundle of the console, an extra controller and two games (Halo and NBA) for $300. It's not in stock in the SF store, but you can get it online.
I'm in love with vinyl. Believe it or not I heard music for the first time ever on lp the other day and man was I sold. I swear to God almighty that was the way Led Zeppelin was made to be heard.
In any event, my Outlaw receiver doesn't have a phono stage, which I hear is necessary to listen...
I'm interested in AI (if it's widescreen) and Almmost Famous: Bootleg Cut. Here's what I have:
Get Shorty (no liner notes)
Usual Suspects (no liner notes)
Buena Vista Social Club (sealed)
I'll do a 2-for-1 on GS and US.
My DVD collection, which currently numbers 76, is always in flux. I constantly get rid of movies I like but aren't quite worth having in the collection. In all, I buy about 20 movies a year and sell/trade all but a few of them.
I called them up and they've got a new coupon of $10 off $60. It's not the $20 that others got, but it's not bad.
BTW, Spartacus: Criterion is only $15.
If you buy online from an unauthorized dealer, the warranty is void. Maybe the receiver will work just fine, maybe it won't. But when I bought a second hand 1801 on the internet and it broke in two weeks, Denon wouldn't repair it.
1. Mulholland Drive
2. The Man Who Wasn't There
3. A.I.
4. Memento
5. In the Bedroom
6. Ghost World
7. Lord of the Rings
8. Amelie
9. Moulin Rouge!
10. Ocean's Eleven
Just because a console has a large library of games doesn't mean you own them all or would even have time to play them all. I have an XBOX with 4 games: Halo, Project Gotham, Max Payne and Amped. I barely have enough time for those four.
Besides, there is no freaking way I could ever go back...
Hi Alan,
I'm interested in NHL 2002
I've got the following DVDs for trade:
Almost Famous (non-SE)
Carlito's Way
Get Shorty
Sting: Brand New Day
Pick any three.
In regards to optical cables, whatever you do, DO NOT buy the Monster optical cable. As has been discussed ad infinitum on this board, a $8 Target cable will sound exactly the same as a $40 Monster one.
Bottom line: Would you guys suggest buying a 3-yr extended warranty for $300. How often do TVs break? How much would it cost to fix the things that typically break?
Also, what do you guys think of buying 4:3 HDTVs as opposed to 16:9 TVs? I watch more 4:3 television right now than movies, but...
