    Jeopardy!

Ken has been great as host despite not really being a TV guy. Anybody catch the 4 shows last week with Maureen O’Neil? Now she was a pip. She always seemed to be three sheets to the wind. On her last show she had a meltdown, ended up with a negative number and missed Final Jeopardy. ‘Then came...

    Netflix The Adam Project (2022)

I thought it sounded fantastic on my Sonos Arc w/sub system. And it looked good too. Fun movie. I want to watch it again for the one-liners and classic rock music.

    Tenet (2020)

Sad that we may never get to see Tenet on a big screen here in NY.

    Up Pixar

For some reason WALL-E didn't wow me compared to the other PIXAR films. I liked the first act but the second act inside the spaceship with the humans did nothing for me. If it had stayed on Earth, maybe I would have liked it more. The humans in the movie just throw me off. Plus the fact...

    Blu-ray Review HTF Blu-Ray Review:Quarantine

I thought it was excellent for its genre. Throughout the movie you can hear police/fire sirens outside the building that add an extra layer of panic to the movie. If this had been made in the 70's, it would be considered a classic.

DVD Review HTF BluRay Review: The Incredible Hulk

Watching this tonight. Wow! My SVS sub and my Velodyne are in shock. This is prime demo material. And not a bad flick either. Great video and audio. A must own to show off the system.

What Hirez Discs Have You Purchased Recently?

My most recent buys are Porcupine Tree's remaster of Lightbulb Sun in DVDA. Also just got the latest No-Man release also in DVDA. Its called Schoolyard Ghosts, available at Burning Shed. Both must owns if you have DVDA and a surround system.

    Iron Man (2008)

I also enjoyed the film. Very steady workman like structure to the movie which builds to its climax "I Am IronMan" cue music. :) Perfect cast especially Gwennie and Leslie Bibb (yum yum). Loved Stan Lee's little cameo, it was spot on. This will make a great Blu-ray disc!!!

Collateral would be nice on Blu-ray too.

Blu-ray Review HTF BLU-RAY REVIEW: Unbreakable

Anyone know where you can get the trailer for Unbreakable? Its not on the DVD or Blu-ray I've heard. I think its one of the best trailers ever.

    William Friedkin's Sorcerer?

I agree. We need a remaster of this fun film!

Official HTF HD Review: Miami Vice - Unrated Director's Cut

I'll have to give the HD-DVD version a spin once I have my XBOX 360 HD player up and running. I didn't like the new "In The Air Tonight" though. Also the casting of Gong Li seems a bit off. A Chinese Columbian Cuban drug runner?

Official HTF HD Review: Miami Vice - Unrated Director's Cut

The regular (DC) DVD looks very soft and grainy to me. Maybe the HD-DVD version looks better. Not a movie I would "demo" to try and show off how my SXRD looks.

    'Miami Vice' Details

Watching it tonight (the DVD) on a Sony SXRD with a Denon 3910 via HDMI. Not a great transfer but maybe this is the way it looked at the movies. Very soft. The only scenes that look real good are the slow pan "film" parts. Not a movie I would return to and not "demo" material.

SXRD and the Denon 3910...bad blacks

Turns out that Superman Returns is an awful transfer. My system is just displaying what a horrible transfer that was released. Tonight I'm watching the lastes "Pirates" movie and it looks spectacular.

DVD Review HTF REVIEW: PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: DEAD MAN'S CHEST (HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!)

I have it on right now and the PQ is spectacular. After almost throwing up after seeing the awful PQ of Superman Returns, this release makes me feel once again proud of my HT. I think this movie goes on too long and isn't great but it is a "demo" disc PQ and soundwise. Great job on this...

50" 1080P Rear projection: who's best at STANDARD def?

I've always felt the Sony's do SD better than the Samsungs. Try to see a demo at a dealer that sells both.

At 50 inches, what did you buy and why?

I have the 50" SXRD and its a very nice size. You get the benefit of a large screen without it over dominating the room.

SXRD and the Denon 3910...bad blacks

My setup consists of a SXRD which is connected to a Denon 3910 via HDMI using a bettercables cable. The SXRD has been calibrated and looks fantastic with HD material from my cable company (Verizon FIOS). The Denon is supposed to be a quality DVD player. I've noticed that on some DVDs...

A Few Words About A few words about...™ Superman Returns -- in HD-DVD

I thought the SD version was visually awful on the darker scenes and underwater scenes on my SXRD. I'm beginning to think the SXRD does not do dark DVDs very well. I was shocked how poor the transfer looked. And this is via a Denon 3910 using a bettercables HDMI to the SXRD which is calibrated...

DVD Review HTF REVIEW: Superman Returns - Two-Disc Special Edition (RECOMMENDED).

Watched the movie tonight on a SXRD via a Denon 3910 (ISF calibrated) and the DVD is very noisy. Not sure if I can blame the SXRD, the 3910 or the transfer. You notice the video noise in the dark scenes. Other than that many scenes look good and the movie is well done. We enjoyed the film...

    IS SVS REALLY GOOD?

I have the SVS at 25hz. We sit about 10 ft from the sub... the sitting area is in one area of the room up close to the TV. My speaker system which is relatively new (Onix Rocket 5 speaker HT system) was calibrated once by me using the Denon 3806 included microphone EQ program (Audyssey) but I...

    Sony SXRD info and advice

I paid $3100 a year ago for my 50" SXRD and that was a pretty good discount from the MSRP at that time. Now you can get the 50" for well under $3K.

    IS SVS REALLY GOOD?

My room is pretty large but contained. Its 21 X 35 with 8' ceilings and has french doors that can be closed. I do use one signal from my receiver to my two subs by splitting the sub cables. The two subs are on opposite sides of the room from each other (the SVS is on the right side of the...

    Sony SXRD info and advice

I bought my 50" SXRD exactly a year ago and its been great. Wonderful HDTV. My set was calibrated by Kevin Miller. My only regret was not getting the 60". But now that there's a 70", that maybe my next TV.:)
