    Sony Bravia connections ???

I wound up buying a Sony STR-DN 1020. It does all I expected it to do. I plug in a BD disk into the Sony BD player. It changes the input on the Sony TV and turns on the Sony AVR to the proper input. Sweet, 1 small remote, from the BD player can control all 3 devices.

B&M store in the greater Wash. D.C.area, speaker shopping.

My Costco bought KLM speakers are 20+ years old. I figure it is time to upgrade. I live in a rural area ~80 miles outside DC. There isn't a store I know of where I can audition speakers locally. So I'm willing to travel, nothing new there... I'm willing to go to the area around DC, prefer Va...

    my amp

Is there a fuse on the amp? If so, check it. Have you checked the circuit breaker? Try plugging something else into that wall socket. Are you using a power strip/surge protector? Check them. My cat loves to turn off the power strip/surge protector.

    Sony Bravia connections ???

I have a Sony TV and BD player and a Yahama 7.1 AV receiver. When I insert a disc to the BDplayer it automatically changes the TV input for the BD player. I have to change the AV receiver to the proper input. If I used a Sony AV recv. would it automatically switch to the proper input for BD...

Netflix streaming sucks, I use it very rarely. I'll drop streaming and keep 3 disks a months.

    Sound quality

Thanks Al, that is the conclusion I reached. Guess I'll re-cable the setup.

    Sound quality

Currently I'm running an HDMI cable from my Sony BD player to my Sony TV. Then run a digital cable to my Yahama receiver from the TV. Would I get better sound quality if I ran HDMI to the receiver and then HDMI to the TV?

    I finally went HD

Thanks Robert J, I have a DTV SD DVR and don't really care for the 30 second slip. Much prefer my Tivo box 30 sec skip.

    I finally went HD

Thanks Jason. I bought a Yamaha 7.1 system a few months ago so I'm good there too. Receiver covered, BD player covered, HD DVR coming/covered. I think I'm good to go.

    I finally went HD

I finally bought an HDTV last night, I bought a Sony kdl55ex710 at Best Buy. I was going to get a Samsung 55" but they were out of stock. So they made me a better offer on the Sony. I like Best Buy since they'll haul away my still good SD 50" front projection. I've been waiting at least 3 years...

    What do you recommend?

I'm looking to buy a 50 - 52" 1080P 120hz TV. I think I want to stay away from Plasma. We watch a lot of TV via DirecTV I'll be going to one of their HD DVRs with this new TV. I also like to watch action movies on DVD like Transformers, GI Joe whatever. We don't play any video games. The room...

    Costco and Sony SXRD

I just finished reading my Costco Connection magazine, they have an add in there for the Sony SXRD sets. I called my local warehouse and they have a 55 and a 60" set(s). The 55", which I want is going for 1,699.99. Thats the best price I've seen anywhere. I believe they are the A2000 series...

    Supernatural Season 2

I came into SN about mid-way thru the summer reruns but once I found the show I setup a season pass. ?, was the season finale after they fought the vampires in CO.? That was the last show I remember. Dad and the boys decided to hook up and go fight the demon after they slew most of the vamps...

    Sony KDS-RxxXBR1

I was at the local Costco Monday night and noticed that they are starting to carry Sony TVs. None of these models yet but I'm hoping that may change fairly soon. I'll also be checking their website. With Costco's great return policy and their prices they are hard to beat. MikeS.

    Sony KDS-RxxXBR1

I'm not going to get rid of my cabinet, it is solid oak, not veneer. It cost almost 3k back in 1992. Back then a 50" TV was HUGE. I had been thinking about a Samsung DLP in 1080p, the 56" model there will fit, barely. This was until I looked at the 2 sets side x side at CC last week. Now I'm...

    Sony KDS-RxxXBR1

I've pretty much decided on the Sony XBR1 50" set but because of the winged speakers it is a big problem. I have a solid oak cabinet that maxes out at 53.75" wide. I spent some time eyeballing this set at CC Wednesday and it looks like these side mounted speakers could be cut off. Although most...

    DLP - Samsung vs Toshiba

"Or...you could upgrade to the SXRD model which just buries all competition hands down" That is definetely the case, I spent almost a half hour Wed. looking at a Samsung 56" 1080p right next to a Sony SXRD set and the Sony was much better. About 400 bucks more but definetely worth it. MikeS.

    Sony LCD RP from Costco?

Can someone explain how dramatic the difference is between 1080i and 1080p?

The current Samsung 1080 models take a maximum of 1080i for input. They scale everything up to 1080p. Thats the biggest reason I'm holding off buying a new set, waiting for more sets with 1080p inputs. MikeS.
