Alon: Thanks SO much! I will use your example and go check things out. I hope that is all it is. If not, I had heard of the AVR-2807. It is $1,099 locally, but have seen for $745 online. No shipping. Thanks again for your help and time. Paula
I have had this Denon for many years. Always worked well. I have moved and now when everything is hooked up, the DTS works fine, but it does not recognize Dolby Digital 5.1. I need to confess that I did not know how to hook everything up. I got a new plasma and the BB guys did the hook ups...
Thanks for taking the time to give me your input. Do you know who really makes the Panasonic plasmas? Is it really true that only four companies make all and then the brand names do some add ons?
I am looking for tv as described in the title. My head spins from the choices. I loved my old Sony 27" tv. I've been told that only four companies really make all of the plasmas... NEC, Pioneer, LG and ?? forget the Japanese name.. :) I would like to spend no more than$3,000, but could go...
Thanks to all for your input. A guy at a home theater store just told me the digital cable company in my town does broadcast HD... local channels and one of HBO and one of STARZ. They also have an HD DVR cable box.
I'm moving from and apartment to a house. Also will be getting an HDtv. I have digital cable. I cannot decide if I should keep that when I move, or go to one of the sat companies. I am VERY ignorant regarding antenna issues. I just know I watch a fair amount of tv and since I will be spending...
Thanks all. I had 3+ years when I could not get this on tv, now I saw this via reruns on fx and was sort of shocked. Sorry about the spoiler... I hadn't thought it through very well I guess. :frowning: Paula
I really feel stupid:b I forgot I now have fire wall software on my computer. I had banned 4 IP addresses that kept 'dinging' me when online. I just removed all of these from my 'banned' list. Now I can access the site! Never dreamed one of those numbered IP addresses came from this site! Thanks...
This is really strange. Both of you can pull up this site and I still cannot. I've used this site for over a year, so I don't know why my computer would have trouble with it and no one else's does. Thanks for your help anyway.

I wasn't sure which category this question should go under, but I've not been unable to find dvdpricesearch.com for two weeks. Does anyone know if this service is no longer going to be available? If so, is there anywhere comparable I could go? I really enjoyed that site.:frowning:
Thanks,
Paula
Maybe this should be in the HT basics section, but it is a connection question. I have a Denon 3801 reciever, with DVD, Directv sat, CD player and VCR connected. All runs through the reciever. I THOUGHT I was doing everything according to the manual instructions. Everything works fine, except...
Since there is no such thing as a stupid question in this section.... no matter which HTIB selected, what gage of speaker wire do folks recommend? The guy at CC said keep what comes with them, but I can't believe that is best.
(Hope you don't mind me piggy-backing on your question, Jim.)...
Thank you all SO much for taking the time to give me your input. I really appreciate having members here to get opinions from! I will definately check out the Onkyo 650. Thanks again, Paula
I need to buy a small, starter home theater-in-a-box type set up. I've read the archives and see the Kenwood HTB 405 mentioned numerous times. As I scan the net for comparison shopping, I can't seem to identify what the difference is between the HTB 405 and the HTB 505, other than about $30 and...
As a fan, but someone who doesn't own any of the episodes on DVD yet, can you give me your opinions on the best 2 or 3 out on DVD that you would recommed I buy. I noticed deepdiscountdvd.com has them for a pretty good price. Thanks, Paula
;) I could not agree with you more, John. She is remarkably real in that film. Her performance was rare from one her age. I hope she will make many more.

Beauty and the Beast is one of the all time favorites for many of us and we would LOVE to have it on DVD. Would be a great Christmas gift for families too!
Thanks.
Sorry to jump in here with a side question, but has the Buffy series ever been available in R1 DVD? I've never been able to find it, but I'm still fairly new to DVD.
Thanks.
