Hated it here. Used the free ticket and still felt cheated. It has no style or rythym. And the music is mostly lame, with the exception of Sergio Mendes on the piano in the dance scene. What were they thinking!
http://www.npr.org/display_pages/fea...e_1700688.html Great story on NPR this morning. I promptly ordered her double CD at Amazon. I don't buy much new music, but this sounded interesting. Cool blending of genres.
As a fan of classic cinema and Looney Tunes, I'm wondering - will putting the cartoons on as bonus material continue with future WB classics? Are there Looney Tunes fans that are just buying these classic films for the cartoons? Are these restored like the boxset release? Can we...
Saw The Europeans at a local store today. Its under the banner The Merchant Ivory Collection. No spine number or anything. On the back Criterion and HVE both appear with their logos and wording something like produced in association with Criterion. Hadn't seen this mentioned anywhere and thought...
I did not. I actually found it a bit upsetting to see one of my favorite directors encountering these problems and knowing we'll likely never get to see this movie made by him EVER. My friend who went with me completely agreed. Truthfully we've both been pretty bummed about this since reading...
I was on the phone and the preview screens for this game were cycling thru. Suddenly I noticed on all the Star Wars video clips I saw there was no Special Edition footage! Even the shot of R2 inside the X Wing was the old shot where his dome is black like space because of the blue screen...
I've looked online at various reviews on usenet and amazon. Some seem contradictory of each other as far as what is offered and the degree of protection. It all seems to be personal taste.
I'll be running XP. I just want something easy and something I don't have to think about too much. Do...
Okay, I posted a couple of weeks ago about the SONY VAIO. I like many things about their top of the line like the DVD-R/RW, as well as TON of software included, video ins and outs etc. You can even get a 200 GB config ordered on their site (which I dont even know if its worth having without...
Watching this last night I noticed the opening titles/credits were letterboxed a little smaller than the rest of the feature. The change was jarring to me even at 1 am. So was that initial sequence shown 1.85? And is the feature in 16x9 or 1.78? I checked on IMDb and they listed FRENZY as...
I really like what these come loaded with. Especially if you configure your own system online. Frys had a $2500 model P4 2ghz 512rdram I sorta fooled around with yesterday. The thing could capture video by s-vid, composite and SONY's version of firewire (I know about the compatibility issues...
I thought all the new Woody Allens with the last set were going to be designated Contemporary Classics. Is MGM no longer labeling their releases under various banners?

I was just in the neighborhood Half Price Books when I walked by the video tapes for sale. I noticed some Warner titles in the old-style plastic clam-shell cases. I found it interesting because on the top of each spine, a small bubble told you the genre/category. Dog Day Afternoon was listed...
I bet most everyone who has a few Criterions does this already, I do. But I was thinking about doing this for all my 250+ DVDs. Ok, so I'm bored today.
And I know this would never work with the typical consumer, but I wouldnt mind seeing a system like this in the larger stores. I get so...
Hi, I know the early Paramounts were out on DVD briefly, but I didn't pick them up before they went OOP. Anyone care to comment on the quality or does anyone know if these will come out again soon.
Also wondered if anyone was aware of the condition of the source material for the Marx Bros...
