While I feel that the ethics regarding downloading music are an interesting subject, I don't think that downloadable music is the sole reason causing the differential between CD and DVD sales growth. I agree with several of the reasons expressed earlier, including: 1. A new user base building...
Just sent my e-mail:
Subject: Disappointed with Disney DVD release plans
I have noticed that many of your upcoming DVDs (Muppet Christmas Carol, Muppet Treasure Island, Snow Dogs, etc.) are being released in Pan & Scan format only. I will never, EVER purchase a movie that is not released in...
Right now, my girlfriend is probably on some Lifetime Channel Chat Forum board posting about how her boyfriend forced her to watch Ghostbusters and flip back and forth between the elevator scene on DVD vs. VHS until she realized how much of the picture she was missing.
I own a B&K Ref 20 and have been pleased with the sound. However, I have been extremely disappointed in the long wait for (overpriced) upgrades (new Ref 20 upgrade finally out at a cost of $800). I feel that their tech support is lacking as well. Luckily, the unit is built well enough that you...
Just wanted to be the first post, post pics. Looks great!!! If I wasn't in love with my Ultra, I might have wished I'd waited...the idea of a mahogany SVS is mighty tempting (plus it'd match my furniture :) ).
Edit: First post, yea, right. Man, you guys are fast!
Excellent job on this post. When I did my big upgrade from my old Sony 333ES and Paradigms to B&K Ref 20, Anthem MCA5 and Sonus Faber speakers, I did it all at once, and have always wondered about the effects of each individual component. Congrats on the Lex and enjoy!!!
Personally, I'd rather wait a bit and get what I really want than always wish I had something else or think about upgrading. I had the same debate between the SVS 16-46 and the SVS Ultra.
Nice system, enjoy!
I can see the ads now:
"SVS - Sometimes rounding off of the low end isn't a good thing."
"SVS - All bump, no grind."
"SVS - Bigger is definitely better."
P.S. Love my CS Ultra Ron/Tom!
I own the Rhino South Park discs, and refuse to buy any of the themed discs. Frankly, I've just stopped checking on South Park DVDs since Warner Brothers announced that they were going the theme route. Bad, Warner, BAD BAD BAD WARNER!!!
After watching the THX intro and pod race scene during lunch on my subless system (sold my Hsu TN1225 about 6-8 months ago), I ordered a CS Ultra within a couple hours. I can't wait to watch that disc the way it was intended! :D
I'm STILL waiting on the upgrade that was supposed to be available last year for my Ref 20. Call B&K and tell them you have a Ref 30 and see what they say about ETA of an upgrade. I wouldn't listen to the salesperson, considering they're trying to get you to buy it now...but maybe I'm just jaded.
I remember this conversation with my decorator (at the time I had big, old black Paradigms on stands and a Hsu TN1225HO sub, which looks like an SVS):
Me: "What can we do to make the speakers less...obvious?"
Her: "Well, I would recommend that we don't have these big speakers...maybe just use...
>>>P.S. Anyone who e-mails us asking to "reserve" the refurbished CS-Ultra automatically gets put on the "NOT" list ;^)
Ron, what if I don't e-mail you but just call "dibs" here?
