Hey folks...been a long time since I posted here (but I've been lurking). Just thought I'd share that I received a promotional e-mail from Comedy Central today, and it lists December 16 as the tentative release date for South Park Season 3. It's in fine print at the bottom of a message...
Just got my set in the mail yesterday (finally!) and am loving it.
One utterly unimportant glitch came with my set -- did anybody else get a season 1 sticker on the outside of his/her box?
I'm not kidding! I usually love to peel and save promotional stickers, but this one is on the wrong...
I would imagine that some of the issues holding up Grease are the same ones holding up Grease 2. True, the second one doesn't have the Olivia Newton-John lawsuit to contend with or "the Travolta factor" (that sly sumbitch apparently negotiated back-end and soundtrack deals on all his late-'70s...
Even if the article has flaws, I say anything that proselytizes to Joe Six-Pack -- and nothing is more J6P-friendly than TV Guide -- is helpful to our cause.
I also think that this paragraph, in very plain-spoken terms, is a great piece of ammo that few of us use (the '50s Cisco Kid reference...
Re: The Oscar discussion on A.I., don't forget the Warner factor: Because of their relationship with Kubrick, they released the film theatrically and would therefore be the studio hyping it to the academy. So A.I. isn't really going to be competing with Shrek for DreamWorks' Academy marketing...
Oh, shoot, shoot, shoot...[sigh] I will probably buy this, sucker that I am, but this is really not acceptable at all...
Rob is absolutely right that The Compleat Beatles is the greatest documentary ever compiled on the Fab Four, superior to Anthology in its succinctness and its lack of...
Right on, Ron! Thank you for giving this disc the attention it deserved. I saw Osmosis Jones in a very empty theater back in August, and I too was pleasantly surprised at how witty it was. I don't want to overrate the movie any more than you do -- it's no Shrek -- but I do feel it was...
No more theme DVD purchases for me. I want my South park in chronological, season sets! Come on, Warner -- don't pretend Comedy Central came up with this idea!

WOW. What great, great news. Thank you, Martin!
I'm not too surprised we're getting Saturday Night Fever before Grease. I'm also thrilled. Though it is the less popular of the two, SNF is -- as Siskel, rest in piece, would agree -- by far the better film, one that if watched outside of...
Add me to the list of people long awaiting this SE. It's been rumored for so long (since early 2000, by my count) that I've been holding off purchasing this on DVD to avoid the ol' double-purchase jinx.
I'm so excited about this, it pretty much makes up for my disappointment over the...
Thanks for the tip, Craig, but I zipped over to DVDEmpire, and while they are taking preorders for the Jerry Maguire SE, they are showing no release date.
I smell a delay by Columbia. Anybody have any dirt?

I'm reviving this thread again because I'm wondering if anyone's seen preorders being taken on Jerry Maguire-SE. I've been checking the major sites for weeks, and nobody is even listing this title, less than five weeks before its (supposed) release. Any update? Has Columbia postponed it...
I guess someone in the early '80s video dept. tried to categorize a "historical" film sight unseen.
Um...notwithstanding the occasional violence and the fact that it's a sloooooow-moving three-hour film, I can think of at least one topless scene -- in fact, the scene in question is a kind of...
I don't need this two-pack, but I guess the one thing I like about this announcement is that it confirms the consistency of my tastes. Not only do I own both Rushmore (CC) and High Fidelity, they are probably my two most-played discs ever, rivaled only by Spinal Tap and Goodfellas. (What can I...
We should send this comic to any studio that puts out a DVD in this day and age whose only "special features" read: "Languages: English, French."
:)
Thanks for sharing, Keith. Good scan.

Re: the increasing seriousness of SatC, this New York Times article is also an interesting read.
(Free registry required at nytimes.com to read the article.)
It seems that Season 4 -- which I've seen very little of, because I don't have HBO and primarily watch the DVD sets -- was the most...
I think Warner just wants to get high.
"I swear, if you let me get high, I'll remember to release season sets."
"Oh all right, here you go!"
...
"So where are the season sets?"
"What season sets? Oh, man, I am so high right now..."

Count me in. And FWIW, the title of the first movie is just Raiders of the Lost Ark. Movie fans are smart enough that Indiana Jones is in it -- no need for more revisionist, Greedo-like action on Lucasfilm's part!
Thanks, Martin, Paramount, Lucasfilm, etc.

Out of that list, Delirious ranks as far and away the most desired for me: I still say it's the funniest single standup performance of all time (followed closely by Bill Cosby's Himself; Richard Pryor has a number of great performances, but unlike Delirious, his best work is kind of scattered...
