Deadwood Season 1 rerun on HBO2

Anyone watching it for the first time on HBO2? I'm watching it again to tide me over between now and next season. I think I'll even keep them on my TiVo so I can watch them again when we actually get close to season 2. Seeing the first episode again was great. Some things make more sense now...

Where's the complete DVD release history?

DVD Empire has a nice feature where you can look at future releases in alphabetical order within a release date. The problem is once that date passes I can no longer look at DVDs for that day in that manner. Is there a site that has this complete release history? I mainly want to look into the...

Company that made a DVD storage shelf unit that Ron reviewed?

Months ago now Ron reviewed a DVD storage shelf from some online company. It had a marquee on the side where you could put four DVDs facing forward. They had little signs like "Now Playing" you could hang below them. They also made genre dividers for the shelves. I ordered one and like it a lot...

Good hotel in Atlantic City other than a casino?

I've only been to AC once when some friends and me went up for a night and drove back the next morning. No sleep is obviously not the best way to drive. We made it back, but it wasn't smart. I'll be going up again soon, and I would like to get a room for a cheaper rate than at the casinos...

That 70's Show 100th episode musical(4/30)---Oh the humanity!

I've loved this show from the beginning, but that was just awful. Who actually sits in a script meeting and thinks a musical episode is a good idea? I TiVo'd the episode, but the season pass didn't get the behind the scenes special. Was that any good? It had to be better than the episode.

If you watch TV and don't have TiVo, why?

I just read a column linked in a thread in the TV forum about how producers feel they need to change the format of the show 24 because it asks too much of viewers to have to see every episode. Research apparently shows most folks watch around 8 episodes a year of their favorite shows. Yes...

    Should I get XM radio?

My dream is to have my entire CD collection ripped onto an in dash hard drive that I could just put on random and drive 'til my heart's content. However, such devices are few, and I'm dubious about support for them. I don't like that you can't buy them in B&M stores. Basically I'm tired of...

Which HD STB should I buy?

I have an HD ready set, and I would like to purchase an STB. I want one similar to the Toshiba DST3000 in that it can receive DirecTV HD and OTA HD. Is that model what I should go with? Is there something better out there. I assume at this point there still aren't that many to choose from...

    Letterbox promo/explanation on TCM

I saw part of this before Rocky aired tonight on TCM. It was FANTASTIC. It had Ron Howard and Martin Scorsese discussing some of their favorite films and why they had to be seen letterboxed (OAR). They would show clips form the films that jumped back and forth between p&s and OAR. They were...

Which Phantom Menace score CDs should I buy?

I own the 4 CD box set of the scores from the original trilogy, and I love them. After watching the new Attack of the Clones trailer with it's great music queues mainly from Return of the Jedi I spent time yesterday listening to those scores. I then realized I need to get the score for The...

    Netflix getting better?

From reading the different threads concerning Netflix that have been in this forum from time to time it seems the major complaints about the service have been waiting times on many titles and the fact that you can no longer have them send you the next title the day you ship the title you're...

"The Independent": Has anyone seen it?

I can't find this film out anywhere around me, and I live near Washington, D.C. Did it come and go quickly? Was it only in LA/NY? I was hoping to see it. IMDB says Dec. 7 was its release date. Was it only in theaters for a weekend?

2001: A Space Odyssey at the Uptown in D.C.

I've always heard fans of 2001 say that you have to see it on the big screen and they couldn't be more right. I went to the 8 PM showing last night, and it was fantastic. The screen at the Uptown is so large that to take it all in you often have to turn your head. They also had the volume...

10 biggest movies of all time based on people purchasing tickets

People always complain, and rightly so, that top 10 lists based on gross are misleading. I found this list in The Washington Times today. It's based on number of tickets purchased. The source is "The Top 10 of Everything." If it's accurate, I think it should be the definitive list. It's...

    Philips DSR6000 remote

I seem to remember reading something about there being a bad batch of remotes with this unit. I just got it, and when using the up, down, left, right button it is very touchy. Pressing down will often take me left and left will often go up. Was this the problem with the remote? If so, how do...

    Best DirecTV receiver/Tivo combo?

I have DirecTV service, and I really want Tivo service. My DirecTV receivers are some older models, so I was thinking I'd kill two birds with one stone and get a DirecTV with Tivo receiver. I'm interested in opinions on the Phillips DSR6000 vs. the Sony SAT-T60. The Phillips is ahead right...

    Nosferatu in color!?

I watched Shadow of the Vampire tonight, and it made me want to see Nosferatu. I looked into the DVDs, and there have been two releases. The first is OOP, and the second is said to be in COLOR!! Huh? Did they actually colorize this movie? I have the OOP version in my cue at Netflix. I hope...

    Simpsons dialogue edit?

The rerun of The Simpsons where Homer takes over Smithers job was on today. In it Mr. Burns tries to use the phone for the first time, and he accidentally calls Moe's. Moe thinks Burns is Bart prank calling him, and he goes into a tirade about what he's going to do if he catches Burns. The...
