Thanks Gene. I thought I'd still get DD & DTS, but wanted to be sure. That's really 'good enough' for me for right now until I can do a big time upgrade of some stuff.
As for the sub, I have no idea how low it should go. I don't really like or dislike it, I got it used from a HTF member a...
Hi all,
It's probably been 4 or 5 years since I posted (most of my stuff is that old too). I'm thinking about getting a Panny BD60, but wondered what else I'll need to upgrade if anything.
Here's my gear...
TV: LG42LH40 42" 1080p 120Hz LCD HDTV
Receiver: Pioneer VSX-709S
Speakers: Front; B&W...
Hope you don't mind me asking in your thread Robert. I've had an XBox, which I love, for 3 years & a GC for about as long. Never did get a PS2. I'm thinking I probably need one though. Seems there are lots of RPG's I'd like to try & the new God of War looks killer. I've never owned any Sony...
Are there any strategy games you would say it compares to? Is it turn based or real time? Trying to get a handle on what game play is like exactly. I've heard some folks bought it thinking it was a shooter (not reading obviously) & were pissed to find out it wasn't.
I don't think it'll flop. They are expensive, but a lot of parents seem to have no problem shelling out $300+ for an iPod for thier kids. Some A+ list titles wouldn't hurt sales though. GTA, GT4m & Final Fantasy will help sales I'm sure.
I'm sure Grand Theft Auto in May will sell a few units. I've never played a GTA game, but they seem to be really popular with a lot of folks. There's also the Final Fantasy game that's coming.
The 1GB sticks from SanDisk have an MSRP of $150 & can be purchased directly from the mfg for that price. I've seen folks mention getting them on eBay for around $110 or so. They're $120 from someplace like buy.com
I don't think it's selling as bad as it may seem. Sure places aren't selling out the first day like they may have with PS2, but this isn't the holiday buying season & they also shipped 1,000,000 PSPs vs. 500,000 PS2s to ensure everyone that wanted one could get one. It's price does work against...
Got Wipeout at lunch today. Not a big racing game guy, so that'll probably the one & only racing game I ever buy for it. Gotta say it's a pretty good game & looks awesome. Want Untold Legends, but so far everywhere I've checked no dice. EDIT: Got ahold of Untold Legends :) and picked up...
I've tried Music Collector & it's good for standard fare collections. Just wish it had good options for classical music. I use their Book Collector software & like it. Updates are free which is good.
You can get a trial (100 CD limit) version of Music Collector, I'd try that before buying.
They are supposed to get more in a few weeks. This set is packaged differently than the one Amazon offers & has. The discs do have liner notes, but the Amazon set has a booklet with it (500 pages I think) which is on 2 CD-ROMS in this set. This has been the price on this version of the set...
Hey Dennis, what I've listened to so far has been really good IMO. There are some mix ups with some of the sets. My second disc of Partita's with Pinnock while disc is labeled as Partitas disc 2 is actually disc 2 of WTC Book II. Also the Christmas Oratorio Discs 2 & 3 are backwards. Disc 2...
Well, I took a spin by Half Price Books today on my lunch hour for some used CD shopping. They had one Penderecki disc, but I couldn't remember which one you guys were recommending. I bought it anyway. My $20 got me... Penderecki Orchestral Works Vol.3 (Symphonies 2 & 4) Naxos (sealed)...
Dennis, how is Anne-Sophie Mutter in general? I've got most of Hilary Hahn's discs & like them. I've heard some people say she's better than Mutter & others say she "sucks" in comparison to Mutter.
http://www.zweitausendeins.de I found out about it when reading some usenet postings. Supposed to be different packaging (4cd's in a special single jewel case). I did see a few people have gotten 2 or 3 mixed up discs they've had to send in for exchange, but for as cheap as this new edition...
Thanks! Yes, I know there are holes & that's why I like threads like this every once & a while. It gives me fresh ideas on things to try. Being that my collection is only about a year old, before that a few Beethoven Symphonies was it, it still very much in progress. I do appreciate all of the...
No other free ones I know of. Collectorz.com has a music version of their software, but I've never tried it. I have their book software & it's not to bad.
