come on... no one's interested? I'm willing to make a deal just make me an offer... I'd really prefer to sell them to someone semi-locally. I've also listed them on half.com so if you don't live nearby that might be a better way to take car of it. Thanks for looking.

For sale is one pair of Infinity RS-8 speakers. The owners manual can be found at http://manuals.harman.com/INF/HOM/Ow...39;s)%20om.pdf I have owned these speakers for the past 2+ years and they have performed flawlessly and I have been completely and totally happy with them. I'm only...
do you have something like Norton Utilities installed? I had this same problem and it turned out that somehow Norton had been scheduled to scandisk every start up. (Norton Disk Doctor basicaly just scandisks in XP) Hope this helps.
IT's always set to spdif which is what I want. When I get it working, it will stop working as soon as I change anything. (ie. a different sound channel, turning on then off, or even skipping tracks)
I went through Cyberlink's online tech support today and there was not even anything...
I'm running PowerDVD 4.0 under Windows XP Pro. I have a SB Live 5.1 hooked through spdif to my onkyo reciever. I'm having this strange problem where when I start a DVD or change a sound option, I get no audio. Then if I change my reciever to a different mode (like FM or video 2 or something)...
Come on guys... Any comments?
I'm new to this. I just don't want to go ahead and buy something that someone whos done this before could easily tell me isn't going to work well. I would really appreciate any comments.
I don't expect this to be the most fenomenal design, but I'm really...
Hey guys,
So I'm trying to design a (relatively inexpensive) center channel and I think I've settled on what drivers to use. I just wanted to put them by you guys to see if there's anything I might be missing. For the woofer I am thinking of using a single Peerless 830377 NOMEX 5" SHEILDED...
Thanks for the tips... I had seen that Audax tweeter, but hadn't seen anything about it being shielded, but now that I look at the Audax website, I see that it has a, "Compact overmoulded magnet system inherently shielded" Is this good enough? I had been looking for one that was specifically...
Hi all,
I'm looking for recommendations for a tweeter for use in a center chanel. This will be my own design (and my first) so any advice helps. I'm trying to keep my costs down, so $30 is a fairly absolute max for the tweeter, less is good... Anyway, most of the recomendations I've seen...
Right now I have me Onkyo 575x hooked up to my computer (it has the live 5.1). Right now I have the s-pdif out on the soundcard hooked up to digital in on the reciever. I did this mostly because I was always told it would give a cleaner sound. Like you've already heard, the downside is...
Thanks Thomas,
Your advice was pretty much exactly what I was looking for. I'm still hoping to get more people's opinions on different materials... Like I said this is more for gaining knowledg than probably anything else.
I didn't mean to be rude with the comment about shutting people...
I don't claim to be an expert in speaker design. And no, I haven't built my own speakers before. I won't actually be designing or building any speakers for a while (probably not until this summer at the earliest). At this point I am just trying to learn the absolute most I can and this...
I guess opinions are really what I was looking for. I know one material won't always be the best. But who likes drivers made with what materials the most. And give reasons why, like maybe for example that one type of material has a bright sound and you like bright sounds. I don't want to...
I'm looking into possibly designing some speakers, and it seems one of the first questions is what drivers to use. At this point my question isn't really what brand or model number, but more of what material... What are the merits of different materials such as paper, kevlar, etc... Also I...
Andrew,
Thank you for your advice. That makes perfect sense and is kind of what I was expecting. I was pretty much just interested in knowing what program would get me the most prepared for the most options. I haven't made some firm decision that I want to go into audi, but it sounds fun...
Thanks guys,
I think that I'm going to stick with mechanical because I really like the program here and like Bill said, it sort of encompasses a wide range of topics like material science and EE. In fact it has so much material similar to material scince that I could double major with only...
I live in the dorms at UCB and I have a pare of Infinity RS-8's. I'm not familiar with the speakers that you are talking about, but be careful not to get anything too large for your surrounds. In the dorms here, the only space for one of mine is having it wedged between my headboard of my bed...
Hey guys,
I was wondering if anyone knows anything about getting into the business of speaker design. I'm a first year student at UC Berkeley and plan on double majoring in mechanical engineering and material science and engineering. I'm not quite sure what I want to do with this, but the...
