Superman music thread: http://www.hometheaterforum.com/htf/...n-box-set.html The first batch has nearly sold out. There will be another pressing of 3000 units.
They shot so much behind-the-scenes footage. I'm just wondering when they'll show it. Just like Star Wars, tons of behind-the-scenes material and various makings-of have still yet to surface on DVD.
It includes alternates and source cues not on the Rhino disc. Superman 2 deserves a re-evaluation. Superman 3 is astonishing, well, I think so, and Superman IV is one huge surprise. The 160 page book is terrific. I had to forget everything I knew about the scores for all four films. Check out...
This Thursday FSM will release the complete scores (includes alternates and source material) to the four Reeve films and Ron Jones's animated series. It's a 8 disc set and the initial batch is 3000 units. Superman CINEMA
The new interviews are pretty good. Would love a commentary track by Roman, though. Faye's absence is duly noted. Does she even do interviews? This is, perhaps, her best work. The transfer is amazing, it looks like it was shot yesterday -- it's that good.
I believe the original audio on the DVD is still wrong. I can't remember all the details off-hand. I seem to recall that the front channels have no separation. The laserdisc is probably the correct track.
When I watched the Final Cut for the first time on Christmas Day: The opening imagery blew me away. The depth of the bass gave me the shivers. That synergy of vision and sound is something I've rarely witnessed.
I've only ever watched Blade Runner once in my life, and I pretty much forgot the film, mainly in anticipation of this behemoth and Ridley's final cut, the one he wants me to watch. The film is absolutely astonishing, I'm so glad I waited to see it like this. The picture has been discussed to...
Personally speaking, unless I'm working on my own project, I watch a film from beginning to end, and never watch my favourite scenes out of my context.
If it was my own film, then I'd remove chapter breaks.
I'm very much in favour of the author's intent. If Ridley thinks the FINAL CUT is the best version of the picture, then who am I to argue with that? I don't have to watch it. I'm glad they kept it simple. I don't want to mess around with options, I just want to watch the film as the author...
I'm sure Charles didn't forget Vangelis, but I bet Vangelis forgot Charles.
Dave, glad you're happy. I'm saving my copy for Xmas day, Supes 1 and 2, then Bladerunner. :D
The 2006 DVD is biased towards cool blue.
2007 Final Cut is light green bias.
I guess all versions of the film in this set feature the same Final Cut colour palete?
That's what I thought. I don't really know why I never picked up the book - I guess I must have been waiting for this DVD set for all the answers. To me, this BR set is definitive, I can't imagine anyone questioning the choices made whereas Superman fans are still disgruntled over the the Donner...
Thanks for the photos. Is Future Noir a load of bollocks? Someone told me it's sensationalist and a misrepresentation of facts. I find that hard to believe, because the majority thinks it's the Bladerunner bible! I accept embellishment to a degree, but is it the most accurate book out there on...
