I got the RR set about a year and a half ago. This was during Columbia House's Disney "fire sale." I heard about the photo inserts a month after I bought the set. Still gave them a call and they were sent to me. Just call them up and let them know your situation.
I had this happen with Who Framed Roger Rabbit - Vista Series. It was supposed to come with some "autographed" glossy photos. Didn't get them so I called the Disney help line. I told them what happened and gave them my info. A few weeks later, they showed up in my mail.
HD is 1080x1920 video at 24 frames per second. Unless the disc is working with a PAL master to begin with, there is no PAL speed up. Harry Potter and The Goblet of Fire is a new 1080x1920 HD transfer at 24f so the UK HD DVD works fine without PAL speed up on NTSC equipment. Terminator 2...
The way Universal does its combo discs is: Side A is an HD-30 with the high-definition 1080p presentation and the in-movie experience and any HD bonus materials. Side B is a DVD-9 with the standard-definition 480p presentation and the SD bonus materials. Rather than press an HD-DVD with...
They make money like every other station... Commercials. Disney also has the benefit of a "Toon Disney" channel that brings in more ad-revenue. What I liked today (8-7-06) was that the Toon Disney channel aired "Lilo and Stitch 2: Stitch Has A Glitch" in its original AR. Granted it had...
Only the Disney Channel had the 65 episode rule. Before Kim Possible, That's So Raven was the first show to break the 65 policy. Disney Channel executives felt that after 65 episodes, a show can go "stale" and lose viewer interest so they instituted this policy. The Kim Possible...
One thing that I noticed in this film was... The Freedom towers were in the New York skyline when his son is getting married in the future and Sandler's character has the heart attack.
Very beautiful backdrop to a wonderfully suprising movie.
The two disc set has DTS with a second disc of extras that DVD producer David Prior found. This includes a featurette, interactive magazine articles, and a nice easter egg showcasing the "video game" version of the movie. The single disc drops DTS for a pan & scan version of the movie.
Snow White looks absolutely frickin' amazing to me. The Platinum Edition already had the film remastered in high-definition but was downconverted for DVDs resolution. The only way I can think of to improve it is to see it on Blu-Ray or HD-DVD in its full high-definition glory.
DVD Empire has it for pre-order: http://www.dvdempire.com/Exec/v4_ite...item_id=763974 And since they are the only retailer I can find that has it...I smell "retailer exclusive."
The skits are not so bad if you realize that the story DOES NOT focus on the tragedy of the Titanic sinking but instead is a "love story" set on the Titanic during its unfateful voyage. After all, most of the sinking involves the two unlucky lovers trying to a)find a way off the boat b)avoid the...
MGM replaced the original burned-in subtitles with removable subtitles. This is not so bad but this change ruins a joke in the film by preceding the subtitles with a new "Thinking" subtitle. The film did not have that subtitle originally.
Some evidence to the contrary... Forrest Gump, Hondo, The High and the Mighty, Top Gun, Once Upon A Time in The West, and Tommy Boy Coming soon is a two disc set for Ferris Bueller's Day Off. Not only that but Paramount has surprised consumers with some unexpected special editions...
Jim Carrey did not do new new interviews for The Truman Show. The interviews were from the 1998 press interviews. Demi Moore and Whoopi Goldberg did not do new interviews for Ghost. Patrick Swayze did but Moore and Goldberg were the on-the-set interviews from 1989. Both Kelly McGillis and...
Innerspace has a commentary track featuring: >Director Joe Dante >Producer Michael Finnell >Co-Stars Kevin McCarthy and Robert Picardo >Visual Effects Supervisor Dennis Muren Plus it has both the new 5.1 Surround and original Stereo soundtracks.
The initial DVD stated that it was the "Special Home Video Version." From the artwork I've seen, this new special edition does not state that. So is all of the music restored to this film finally?
The original Tremors artwork does not list any extras. In fact, all of the original artwork for Universal's early SEs omitted listing the extras on the back. The new artwork for Daylight and Dante's Peak includes listing the extras.
FYI: According to my ad, you have to be a Rewards Zone member to get both Ocean's 12 and Ocean's 11 for $20 on the same reciept. Non members can get Ocean's 11 for $9.99 and Ocean's 12 for $16.99.
www.amazon.co.jp but expect mostly Japanese text. www.cdjapan.co.jp is in English but specifications are sometimes limited. www.dvdcompare.net has good comparisons of a lot of titles.
The Gladiator single disc is anamorphic widescreen with DD 5.1 EX sound. The DTS 6.1 ES track was dropped to make room for some of the extras from the two disc SE.
The Cyberhome 300 can not properly downconvert PAL anamorphic widescreen for viewing on 4:3 displays. You actually have to have a television capable of doing the 16:9 squeeze so that these are presented properly. For some reason, some DVD players capable of converting PAL to NTSC can not...
DVDEmpire always lists pre-release films as 1.85 Anamorphic Widescreen if they don't know the aspect ratio of anamorphic widescreen discs. They are usually corrected after the discs release.
