Dave...Hello there. Unfortunate I don't have any SACD's to get rid of but I wanted to give you a recommendation of one which I think is phenomenal. You might check out the SACD version of Death Cab for Cutie's Transatlanticism. I'm not sure if you have heard them before or even like them but...
Thanks for the info! I'll pull out A View To A Kill to see if the cropping bothers me. I think it was Colin's review that mentioned The Spy Who Loved Me not being an improvement. That it improved upon some things, but worsened some other areas. I figure I'll do a comparison and just keep the one...

After reading all of this thread (and it's a lot to digest), would I be accurate in saying that the only two older SE Bond movies that one might want to hang on to, for video quality purposes only, are Goldeneye and The Spy Who Loved Me? I realize that there are some special features missing...
Well, I fired these two back up tonight just to make sure I wasn't just sleepy eyed the first time I compared. It's actually a quandary. On one hand, you get a slight more detail with the 30th Anniversary edition but at a cost of a light amount more EE. With the 25th Anniversary disc you get a...
Well, I compared the 30th to the 25th on my 92" and I prefer the video on the 25th. While it is true that there is a very subtle improvement in detail on the 30th Anniversary release, there is definitely more ringing (EE) along hard contrasty edges than on the prior 25th Anniversary disc...
I'd have to disagree with both Cold Mountain and Hero. At least on large screens, neither look very good. I watched Millon $ Baby last night, it looks quite nice though.
Anybody heard anything about this one yet? Will this one have a new anamorphic transfer or will it sport the same lackluster non-anamorphic transfer from the first one making this essentially just a repackage? Hoping for a new transfer as I really dig this remake but I fear it's just a...
That's a shame as there were a lot of good photos. Hopefully they will be able to restore them all. And yes, if the person who originally took the picture still has it I really would appreciate a link to it if you can post it somewhere or perhaps you could email it to me. Thanks!
Hey there, how's everyone? I have searched and searched and searched with no luck. I am posting this request in this forum just because this is where the original thread (or at least a link to it) was originally posted many moons ago so I thought someone might remember what I am talking about if...
The search engine is your...;) jk HTF Review: Star Trek Generations (Paramount should be ashamed of the video transfer) Try using DVD Basen when searching for reviews on the net. It is a very useful site and they always link to HTF's reviews.
How can this studio continually keep putting out lackluster discs? It may not be as bad as Gangs but its damn close. If the other studios (for the most part) can usually get it right, why can't Miramax? Needless to say, I was not too impressed when I watched this last night on my 92”.
Put me down for wanting the entire game included. Right after I watched the movie I turned to my wife and immediately told her that a nice 2 disc set including the actual game would be fabulous. Here's to hoping they include it!
It took me trying three Die Hard sets to get a clean set, the first two sets I opened both had finger prints on disc #2. I actually picked the set up on release day and then exchanged the very next. Just recently, disc one of South Park Season 1 was finger printed up. The other two discs in...
I want my $$$ back! And how many more movies must R. Lee Armey call someone a maggot? I have a question about the ending. When Jessica Biel takes off in the sheriffs car with the baby, she gets about a mile or so down the road, Leatherface is in the road and hits the car with his chainsaw...
I'll second this! We watched The Lion King last night as well and we were blown away by the entire presentation. The Home Theater 5.1 mix ranks way up on my list of all-time DVD mixes.
That's interesting. I just watched Reloaded and while it looked tremendous, I still think AOTC looks better. At least, that is what my eyes tell me. I did think the audio was darned near perfect on Reloaded. I didn't adjust my sub at all and I never once thought that I should. No where near like...
I threw this in last night just to refresh myself with the video quality especially since I haven't viewed it since I got my front projector. It is like they processed a lot of the grain out of it but in doing so made the image extremely soft. I watched the trailers on the disc and though...
Exactly right Kevin! The faux THX logo at the beginning is the main reason I have held on to the original Elite DVD, I just love it and they got me too. I also read about the sepia tones during the beginning of the Millenium Edition that isn't in the original Elite DVD so I just stuck with it...
Well, this is number 3 for me. Shrek dts, Moulin Rouge dts, and now Die Another Day dts. The DD tracks seem to play fine, only the dts tracks. BTW, my player is a Panny RV-80.
George, thanks again! I tried the film mode this evening and I think I like it the best. Just finished watching Nemesis and Saving Private Ryan, both looked amazing! Noted rainbows in Nemesis early on but as the movie went on the rainbows went away (for the most part). I didn't see a single...
