HBO is still reformatting all new 2.35 transfers to 1.85. What you are seeing is an occasional older transfer made before HBO's Pan & Butcher policy went into effect.

I wish it were that simple. The one I just got has (WS) (DTS) and it is NOT the new version. Let's stop spreading this unreliable method of detecting the new version. It isn't reliable.
I just received a new copy. It had (WS) (DTS). But the file dates were July 25 and it sounded just like my original copy-crappy. So I don't see any way of determining the new from the old pressing by the packaging. The only way to know for sure is to check the file dates and needless to say...
