I thought for a while that films can't impress me the way they used to, but I have been proven wrong. Lost in Translation made me float over the ground beneath my feets on my way home. The next film I am really looking forward to is The Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless mind.
I saw Lost in Translation at the Vienna Film Festival a few month back. Sofia came on stage to introduce the film to the audience, which made it one of my greatest film experiences ever. PS: what a fantastic DVD cover design *lol*
Has anyone ever ordered something from dv-depot? I live in Vienna, their shipping costs are acceptable and I need some of those Criterion DVDs ;) play and dvdboxoffice.com are a little too expensive
This better be true. I can't wait to get a decent release of Lost Highway.
It's strange how some well respected films get treated when it comes to DVD.
I just borrowed the US version of "Chungking Express" and I loved the movie. Unfortunatly the Aspect Ration on the DVD is not correct and the cover is plain ugly. If anybody knows of a good DVD of Chungking Express out there, please let me know.
As much as I love Jonze. I am really looking forward to the Cunningham and Gondry discs. Cunningham is a visual genius, his commercials and music videos are pure art. The same counts for Gondry. note that the idea for the ending sequence from BJM was stolen from a Gondry commercial...
I haven't seen anything about this great release on the htf. This is truly exciting. Palm Pictures is releasing a new series of DVDs called "The Directors Label". Which focuses on the work of groundbreaking directors and their non full length feature work. The following three DVDs will...
To you think there is going to be a Special Edition of Adaptation? The current edition is a Superbit edition and while it's great that we get a quality release , I just can't imagen that Spike Jonze isn't working on a quirky Special Edition. If I remember correctly Punch-Drunk Love was...
While doing my usual apple.com/trailer routine, I stumbled upon the trailer for "Anything Else", which I actually hadn't very high hopes for after seeing the (imho)ugly poster. So the trailer starts and my jaw almost imediately drops to the floor. The Cinematography (by Darius...
In my opinion you should just live with the 2 versions. There are a lot of small tibits and sometimes larger editing issues (Moulin Rouge) in some films that bug me. But it s still the directors choice that counts...we shouldn t start to mess with other peoples films :) good luck trying anyway
I buy a DVD because of the movie. It's not like I wouldn't buy Adaptation just because it has no extras (that would be pretty insane). But I would still rather like to see a Adaptation SE than a Final Destination 2 Infinity release or whatever they are called. PS: I still think...
I just rewatched my Region 2 DVD and kind of reconstructed the original version. I first watched the alternate ending... and thought... well... okay thats excatly the same...the only thing that's different is that Jim is missing
but while watching the deleted scenes i realized how the...
I honestly don't need a special edition for every singel movie on DVD. But I would like to have SEs for the films that are breaking new ground or have a unique quality to them. And it seems like those films don't get the treatment they deserve. But my guess is that this is due the...
sure you don't need tons of extras but it seems like less quality movies are more likely to get a SE treatment *lol* I am happy for you that you are content with your SEless editions of About Schmidt and Adaptation. I am not. I would care for Special Editions for Adaptation, The Ring...
Maybe it's just me, but I think that the quality of Special Editions is dropping quite a bit compared to those released in the early days. Why is it that a lot of new quality films don't get the deluxe SE that films like Fight Club got. Solaris Adaptation About Schmidt come to mind...
I don't know if its true, but I remember reading something about a highly sexual scene between Ripley and the Alien in Alien Resurrection that was trimmed part of it was even destroyed at the request of Fox execs. I read this in a TV mag back in 1997.... edit: found this on the net...
hmm.. good question. but if two unplugged people would get a child.. the child would have no holes. Anyway... everybody in the Matrix doesn't know they have holes in the "zion world"
I still think it would be a bit boring if they would give answeres to everything in Revolutions. What the brothers are basicly doing, is taking very good philosophy and scienes theories and packing them into a film. So I guess they will leave us with some paradox that will make our heads...
*lol* just came from the premiere.... here in Vienna and guys don't you get it ? (okay i haven't read all 31 pages) I saw a double feature and in the first movie. Morpheus said that there was a man born inside the matrix who unplugged the first few people now its obviouse... Zion...
