Thanks!
You did a much better job of explaining this than the review I read. According to Bly Ray.com, there's a new widescreen version of the original series coming soon which includes some extras.
This thread rekindled my memory of the classic, short-lived original show. I wasn't even aware of a reboot but the bits and pieces I've since seen on You Tube have left me underwhelmed.
I wouldn't mind owning the original TV show but can't make sense of all the varied offerings out there. I...
Agreed, but I'd add, for those willing to invest a little effort and view content categorically instead of automatically considering the popular shows offered by the big providers as "must-see" options, there's a ton of absolutely free alternatives. For instance, for me, "comedy is comedy" and...
This is the latest in a string of sad news I've received lately. Death comes to us all at some point, so I tend to try to focus on the life lived by the individual. My interactions with Robert have been relatively few but I remember him as someone who was always respectful and reasoned, even...
The trajectory discussed in this video was all but predictable. Once House of Cards achieved the numbers it did, the writing was on the wall. In the end, the consumer is king but only when we act in unison. As long as a large enough majority tolerates whatever the streaming [Cable, or...
Hello and welcome,
I don't know who "Terry" is but, if you've trusted his/her work in the past, I'd think it makes sense to wait. I haven't played with Dirac personally but everything I've come across in my research suggests at least a moderate learning curve. Dirac in the Marantz line is...
Well, it's never [theoretically] too late but I tend to agree with you. Manufacturers and service providers [collectively, "they"] alike have realized they only need to sway a large majority. They can effectively ignore the outliers as we represent such a small margin of the consumer base...
What I meant to convey [somewhat tongue-in-cheek] was, if you tell them you can't do without their product, don't expect a discount.
People need to boycott the platforms to send the proper message. Now, personally, I'm still willing to pay for Netflix but it's getting close to annoying with...
But you've been a member for years, right? Seinfeld wasn't what lured you in.
Come on, @Wes Candela ;) I'd imagine the streaming executives would love this comment.
We know where this road leads. Unchecked greed eventually causes predictable reactions.
You do bring up a great point. Imagine classic series such as Welcome Back Kotter, Family Matters, Martin, Happy Days, Bonanza, etc. available on Netflix. It seems to me anyway, the combined cost to obtain streaming rights for these shows would be less than what they likely paid for "Seinfeld"...
Yes. I guess the term "older content" is a relative one. I'm currently watching The Arrow. Before that it was The Flash and Supergirl. These all debuted circa 2012. I've also watched the USA Network original series, Suits a couple of times as well as AMC's repeatedly bingeworthy Breaking...
That's an excellent point, Todd, and also a scary one.
Netflix has a lot of older content I like, so I haven't minded paying for it in the past but it's starting to become a pricey line item. I suspect the recent increases are mostly subsidizing newer content like comedy specials, which are...
Likewise, I knew you were discussing Dolby Vision before and should have inferred what you were attempting to convey.
These days I rarely have the luxury of focusing on a single issue.
You don't need to worry about that with me. Arguments require two participants I I don't choose to expend my limited energy that way. My comments regarding the OSD were only intended for general 4K content. I have zero experience with Dolby Vision but it sounds like something Marantz should...
In the case of the AV7703 [and likely the SR7012 as well] it most certainly can. If you're not able to see the OSD over a moving image it's probably due to your video conversion and/or IP scaler settings. Video conversion must be enabled to use the OSD.
See pages 196 and 295...
Assuming by "DV" you mean Dolby Vision? I can't say with certainty because [as a projector owner] I never actually do that but I can't see why it wouldn't.
Your best bet will probably be SVS support, which is about the best in the business. This is an older product but probably shared the same plate amp design as others of that time.
Personally, I 'd be concerned about the aesthetics (and acoustics for that matter) of an open space with two distinct flooring choices. Done properly, I suspect a Berber carpet/ceramic tile combo could work but, as a DIY'er, it would be beyond what I'd want to tackle. Are you planning on...
Congratulations @Scott Merryfield on your 35th anniversary. All I can say is "WOW!"
We're about to celebrate our 20th but, partially because of the skyrocketing costs you spoke of, are "settling for" Las Vegas this time around. We visited Hawaii probably 16 years ago and, as you also said...
I should also have mentioned, the MultEQ Editor app set both of my subs to -12 which, according to reviews, seems to be a known bug. It's a simple fix as I always level match my speakers post calibration anyway.
Absolutely. You might even be able to have both stored locally on the processor for easy switching, depending on your model. Mine allows for two presets and you can have many more calibrations stored in the app and available for upload.
I've been meaning to do this for some time now but finally got around to trying the Audyssey MultEQ Editor app.
While I use a Galaxy Tab S as my HT's remote control and have Android-based devices throughout my home, my phone is an Apple device. This is mainly due to Android's terrible in-car...
If that's the main thing you're after, the Audyssey MultEQ Editor app [which I believe works with the AV7703 and above] offers the same functionality along with the ability to limit the frequency range correction is applied to. Reviews are definitely mixed but, for $20.00, I'll probably give it...
These two statements seem somewhat at odds with each other, but I think I still get your point. :)
The AVM70's OSD is horrible. No gentler way of putting it. The web UI is better but now you need to access it through a PC, tablet or phone and it still pales compared to the Marantz UI.
Maybe...
Right. I believe we have different objectives in this area. My goal in ultimately purchasing the AV10 was to be set for the foreseeable future as I head into retirement. While I had the larger income stream, I over did it with my speakers, subs, processor and projector as they are all...
