    TVs for DVD viewing only

If I were buying something for DVD viewing only, I would go with the Sanyo PLV60, a 16:9 format projector for about $4500. If you are on a tighter budget, than an NEC LT150 for about $2400. The NEC main drawback is that it is 4:3 format, fixed throw distance, and kinda of loud. Both will give...

What front projector for my home theater?

    >>Why do people only recommend digital projectors in here? YUCK! Because you can get brighter more vibrant images without all the hassles of maintaining and operating a CRT.

DLP vs. LCD - The Discussion Thread that Combines Them ALL

The PLV-60 is better than the 10HT. Now the 11HT is another story. The 11HT didn't have a particularly good showing at CEDIA, mostly Sony's fault though for not properly setting up their projector and not using the best screen. I have heard some very good reports on the 11HT since, saying it...

    Panasonic RP91 question

The K is for Black, and N is for Champaign, and I think a blank is for silver. I was unaware of a C. BTW, $699 is pretty high. You can get it on-line for under $450 from eCost for instance.

DLP vs. LCD - The Discussion Thread that Combines Them ALL

It all depends on your price range. At under $2500, the NEC LT150 (DLP, XGA, 800 lumens) is the king. At under $5000, I would get the Sanyo PLV-60 (LCD, SXGA, 1200 lumens). At under $8000, I would get the Sharp Z9000 (DLP, SXGA, 800 lumens). At $10,000, then I would get a DILA.

VGA input or component input into HDTV from progressive-scan dvd?

I don't think all VGA inputs will accept a component input unless it is specifically designed to do so. I know some TV/projectors are designed to share the VGA input with VGA and component, but I don't think all will. I would go component to component.

When is it time to get a projection?

Blake, The LT150 does HDTV. It also accepts a commpoent input but it shares it through its VGA connector. You need a VGA breakout cable between the DVD and LT150. Carlos I used a Nikon 990 Coolpix (digital). I just turned the flash off and let the camera adjust for the exposure.

When is it time to get a projection?

When is it time to get a projector? If you have a dedicated room with light-controlled environment and primarily want to watch DVD or high-def material. Projectors don't really compete with RPTV for NTSC material, but in a light-controlled room with good source material there is no comparison...

    4k on a projector...which would you get?

The Sanyo PLV-60 is superior to the Sony VW10HT for about the same price. The NEC LT150 is the best projector under $3K, as long as you are not super sensitive to the rainbow effect. The Sharp 9000 is the best digital projector, but is more expensive. But people report in Japan they are...

    Bit confused about fp

Usually the projectors are designed to give perfect Geometry when they are at about the level of 6" of the bottom of the screen. When they are ceiling mounted, they are flipped upsidedown and the image is flipped, so they give perfect geometry when they are about at the level of 6" of the top...

    2 monitors - 1 video source???

I know they make active VGA splitters and they might make splitters or switchers specifically for component video. You should be able to use a VGA splitter and three sets of VGA-to-component breakout cables.

Special Offer on NEC LT 150

The colors and brightness of the XP21N makes it a clear winner for me. XP21N screen door is an issue for some, but at a reasonable viewing distance (12' from 100") it is really a non-issue, as the image looks silky smooth. I need to do some serious side-by-side comparisons. The blacks are...

    Stewart GrayHawk Screens - Opinions?

Greyhawks are excellent screen for many projectors, but are a bit pricey. Stewart's screens are very well built and you get what you pay for. Da-lite offers a grey screen which is cheaper, but only has a 0.8 gain. I believe Da-lite is working on a higher gain grey screen to compete in the...

    4:3 on a 16:9 screen

I take it your projector has no zoom and you can't move it easily, so a lens may be your best solution. You need to shrink the 4:3 image size down by 25% to fit in the 16:9 area. Another solution may be an HTPC, I don't own one though, but I would think it might be able to do this.

Special Offer on NEC LT 150

    >i would recommend a 16:9 native projector to match your >screen if you want ease of use and/or do not want outboard >scaling First there are no 16:9 native projectors that come anywhere close to the LT150 on a price/performance level. Second there is no need for scaling, you just watch the...

    projector screens

The biggest limitation with that projector is its brightness, 400 lumens. Even in a darkened room, a 120" D-mat would be too dark. I would go with a smaller screen, perhaps 100" with a higher gain. I don't have experience with that projector, but there is a whole forum here dedicated to that...

NEC Multisync LT150 any good ?

    >>I'd hate to get a downconverted progressive-scan picture out of this. Well it's panel is 1024 x 768, so even using only 3/4 of its panel to get a 16:9 image, it still has 576 rows of pixels. A 480p signal with 480 horizontal rows are UPCONVERTED to 576 rows.

NEC Multisync LT150 any good ?

One of the $1700 NEC LT150 units is being shipped to me as we speak. The price supposively happened because of an error between Dell and a distributor. Dell has stuck to their word and are shipping the units. They probably sold close to a 1000 units between July 18-24. I just got a Sanyo...

    NEC LT150

Sounds like NEC made a mistake in giving that price to Dell. I heard Dell has stopped taking phone orders, but still (temporarily) has the price on the web page. Don't know if anyone will recieve their units, but a few have been supposively shipped.

    What Projector for $4500

The XP21N looks awesome with a 480p signal from a progressive scan player. For a 480i signal, a scaler would be a significant improvement. 480i is watchable, but it is not a smooth crisp image. I currently just have a panasonic progressive scan player and only watch DVD's on my projector. I...

    What Projector for $4500

First off Sanyo makes several models, PLV-60 and XP21N are two of their most popular. Several people are complaining about dust blobs (fixable with factory cleaning) and solarazation on the PLV-60, but every user still insists it is better than a Sony 10HT. The XP21N hasn't had those...

    Why 7.1?

My room is 27' x 12' with three rows of seating, so a 7.1 setup is not a waste of money for the cheap seats. Both surround channels are identicle though so it seems you could get by with just one rear speaker, although it may not be optimal.

All five channels and a sub for $2100, suggestions?

For under $2K, I don't think you can beat Atlantic Technologies 350THX. These are very similar to AT 370THX, but can only be brought off the internet. Seewww.onecall.com , and also do a search and get some reviews. They come with options for stands and multiple subs. [Edited last by Jon_Mx...
