That was a great vid clip.
I think that pretty much represents how all of the enthusiast here feel about it. But unfortunately the general public, who is the target market, does not feel the same way.
As Amir has pointed out a few times, convenience trumps quality every time.
Now that would be an interesting exercise. Think the screen size would really determine if you'd see a difference, resolution wise, between the two.
Wonder if we'd see a difference in the colour palette since they are 2 different sources, film vs video?
Going back to the 4K topic and it's value in home setups,
Has anyone had the opportunity to see the JVC DLA-X90RBU in action?
Does the up-scaling introduction any artifacts?
I believe Shark's comments were directed at the screenplay, being on the thin side. Visually he states that it is a very good looking film but wishes there was a bit more substance to it.
That of course is my interpretation of his post. We'll have to wait to see his official review to know for...
Unfortunately Doc I don't think he's kidding. Shark is very serious about his theater fair.
He looks through my collection and goes "how can you have that DRECK mixed in there!"
But don't care. It's Ridley Scott revisiting the Alien saga. A must see no matter what.
Actually I'm seeing something different going on these days. A chain up here called Futureshop is actually scaling back the catalog on the shelves. Head office has ordered it chain wide.
We have Panera up here as well, but can't say that I've tried it.
If you want a premium bagel in Toronto Gryfe's is the bomb. You should see the line up coming out the door. People come out with 2 to 3 dozen piping hot.
The bagels don't even make it to the shelf. It's right in the bag and out...
It's not just teens who engage in this behaviour.
Went to see the new release of Raiders of the Lost Ark at the TIFF Lightbox. Looked great by the way.
Right in the middle of the movie this person, I'd say in his 40s or 50s, starts going through his emails.
:jawdrop:
SharkShark had some...
Hi Amir,
I can't speak for others, but i wish you would reconsider and continue to participate. The view being expressed is of an extreme minority. I for one want to hear your input on these topics.
Unfortunately that is the case most of the time. But if the will is there it can be done right. A good example would be the Niel Young Archive on blu-ray. That is a very nice sounding release.
While we're on the topic, whatever happened with the Blu-ray 3.0 audio only spec?
Do you see more HD music being released in the future? So far it's been trickling out at a very slow pace.
Is the industry even motivated to give us high fidelity?
In the meantime I'm still spinning Vinyl. ;)
That's all conjecture. We have no idea what incentive programs/policy were in place for Mr. Nickerson as an executive at Warner. The remuneration package offered by Summit could have been something greater than what Warner could offer. Again, don't know. Really does it even matter now? Mr...
If you can find the link that would be great. Like you I don't understand why it's taking so long to tackle this issue.
Honestly I had less light and colour drift when I was using CRT projectors. :P
I'd like to see that as well. Brighter more constant light sources and also full off capabilities. The current bulb tech drifts to much over time. Have constantly calibrate the projector.
Hey James,
I'd classify my screen size as moderate for a projection setup. I've been in a few HT setups that dwarf mine. Art over at AVS comes to mind.
From the seating position, twelve feet, you cannot see any pixels. You have to get within 2 feet of the screen before they become...
You are lucky to have had that experience. Unfortunately that was before my time.
But I recently experienced a 70mm presentation of Lawrence at the TIFF Lightbox theatre. That was something to behold.
See we've somehow managed to come back to the original subject matter of this thread. ;)
I'd be jealous of a 2K system on an 18 foot screen myself.
That's part of the insanity of this hobby. I've considered selling and moving into a new house just so that I could build a HT with a 130" screen.. Oh the humanity.
As for the hate letters that's par for the course. A lot of...
