What would be the ideal placement of speakers (floor standing or in-wall mounted) for a room where the Monitor/Screen is in the corner of the room? Since the Sony 40" Direct-view is so damn deep, putting it in the corner is best for space conservation. Do you recommend in-ceiling speakers...
In the market for a new home entertainment wall unit.... I am looking for a corner unit that can accomodate the Sony 40" XBR800 (with or without stand) and normal home theater components (stereo receiver/DVD/VCR/SAT receiver). Hoping suggestions on companies that make such a unit...
Thanks guys..... I found that it IS a chinese company called Prima? They have been selling in Canada for about 5 years now and are trying to get into the States market. According to their Rep, they have had a very good history in Canada. That is as much as I found out. Later.
I was at Best Buy yesterday and came across some Advent televisions in the 27 - 36" range for pretty good prices. I was hoping someone had some experience or knowledge with these televisions. It seemed to me that their picture was not as vibrant as, say a Toshiba sitting right next to it...
Guys: Just purchased a Yamaha DVC-6480 DVD player, and well, I love it. Everything I hoped for and more!! Build quality is 1st rate, audio/video .....loving it. Now for my question.....when calibrating the db output level for each speaker (5.1) using the Video Essentials DVD, should I...
Phil: I picked up a DVC-6480 a couple of weeks ago at One Call for $359.00 (Free Shipping, a little haggling for that). I am extremely happy with it. Picture is great, audio is even better (DTS decoding very nice)!! DVD Audio is a VERY welcome addition, too. Enjoy!! Rob
The original version of the Time Machine is a much better quality film. Not only for the directrial aspect of the film, but the screenplay and overall presentation of H.G. Wells concept. The "remake" is a pure attempt at bringing the Wells novel to life.
I wanted to get some feedback..... I just ordered the Yamaha DVC6480 DVD 5-Disc Changer to replace my Toshiba SD-3109 2-Disc DVD player. I will not be using the progressive video option since I am using a non-HDTV (Zenith, 27"). Should I expect significant improvement in video and...
Does anywhere in the new DVD mention or explain what the "golden light" is in the briefcase??? One of those mysteries I have never been able to get a firm answer on. Thanks
I just got in A Better Place - DVD, and though I can play the movie fine, but when trying to access the special features or the special introductions, the DVD locks up on me.
Playing on a Toshiba SD-3109.
Bum disc or glitch with the DVD and player??
Anyone with any experience???
I was hoping that someone could give some clues on who might be selling the new Star Trek: TMP DVD a bit early in the South Florida area.
Sorry, but I just cannot wait for this one!!!
Thanks!!
I was hoping someone who had seen or purchased the Toshiba 34" Direct View, 16:9 HDTV (34HF81) could give a review or opinion.
I saw the specs at the Toshiba site, and it looks like a great set with quite a bit of nice features, like 3:2 pulldown.
The price is not too bad either, should...
I have a Toshiba 3109, and the first time I played SWI, the subtitles went by super-quick. The next time I played the flick, the subtitles faded in and out beautifully!
Go Figure?!?!

I have repeatedly been impressed with the Panasonic 34" Widescreen HDTV (CT34WX50). Every store I walk into with this model on display, I am impressed with the picture.
I was wondering why I do not see more posts in regards to this model TV? Is that good or bad??
I would appreciate some...
Jon & Marc:
Thanks for your inputs, definetly food for thought.
I think I am more and more siding to the RCA, the built in HD tuner is a nice thing to have, sun light considerations come to mind more than anything else. I do not mind the "tweaking" or setting up of a RPTV, I actually enjoy...
I have gotten my TV choices down to the RCA 38310 Direct View 38" HDTV (~$3000) vs. the Toshiba 40H80 40" RP/HD TV (~$2000).
I am torn and would really like some input from everyone here.
I am living in an high-rise apartment where the viewing distance to the TV will be about 8', and side wall...
