One step forward...but two steps back.....

Steve: Thanks for the info...I will pass this onto my friend. He is new to home theater and has done little to even go through Avia on his set. He is also running the Sony HD200 and may not have it set as you recommended. The OTA-HD and DTV-HD programming was amazing. It was the SD signals...

One step forward...but two steps back.....

I took my wife with me to a friend's home this weekend to let her watch pre-season football on his new Pioneer Elite 630HD. She has been warming to the idea of replacing our RPTV with a new HDTV set. But...while she was amazed at HD material she was far less impressed with the picture on D*...

Gregg: Though this is late, congrats on a healthy baby...and also on your certification! I recently helped a friend pickout his home theater equipment for a house he built and I have told him he should get you in to work your magic on his RPTV [Pioneer Elite] on your next trip through TN...

    RPTV troubleshooting question

Does this happen only with the DVDs? I was just wondering if this could be a glitch in the convergence circuit?

A little input from the crew....

I had posted this in the HT Basics area with little response tonight...so if the mods don't mind I thought I would drop it here too: My friend is building a new house and has tasked me with putting his first home theater together and has given me a budget of about $9000 [not necessary to...

Help!....what has happened to my Pioneer?

I have an older Pioneer SD-P5075 that has been a wonderful set. This morning when my son turned the system on it looked as though a red spirograph was going nuts on the screen. Turns out the Red gun is out of convergence and is uncorrectable. Is this simply a convergence circuitry problem I...

Thanks to all on this forum....just upgraded my speaker setup....

I just finished placing my orders for Axiom M3ti's all around with a VP100 center [not room yet for the VP150]. Plus...I added an SVS 25-31PCi sub to the mix. Man am I fired up and ready for some fun setting these up. I chose these based on all the reviews and comments here and want to...

Question about the Sony KP-57HW40....help needed...

Steve - Thanks for taking the time to measure for me. I have right at 53 inches in height, but do have the option to relocate the connecting unit that runs across the top of the TV, its just that its VERY heavy and was a pain getting in to begin with. The wall unit itself is so heavy that...

Question about the Sony KP-57HW40....help needed...

I have been considering this unit for some time after reading all the user reviews here, but now face a potential problem. It's listed height may make it about an inch to tall for my wall unit, which has a recessed area for an RPTV to sit. Can the casters be removed to lower the overall...

Odd shadows on my new Sony HDTV

Steve: How do you like your Sony? I have been looking around for new set and have just about locked in on that one. I have looked at them side by side with other sets and really like the picture. I would love to read another testimonial about this set to help convince me I have made the...

I apologize that the quality is not the greatest. I had to use a flash and it washed things out a bit. Back of room 1 Back of room 2 Front of room 1 Head on view And 5 remotes become 1... Once I learn a bit more HTML...I will quit putting so many individual links. My wife is the...

Okay guys...posting a test pic but more to come if this works...be kind [laugh].

The center channel cover is acoustic fabric, so I have the cover off the front of the speaker, and it actually is cleaner and clearer than when it was sitting on top of the TV prior to the wall unit being put in. As for the separation of the fronts, yeah...I have taken those and listened to...

Yeah...color is something my wife and I have been discussing. Because we have more of a southwest theme [in the South no less!] much of our house is in neutral colors. I would like to go with more of a mocha color on the walls in this room, which would go well with the overall scheme.

    Looking for a couch/loveseat

Mark, I have been looking around because I have seen one like you are talking about. But in the meantime, check out this one below. It looks like a hybrid of a couch/loveseat with enough room to keep manly men far enough apart, but not too big. If I find the one I am thinking of I will post...

I am a LONG time reader of this forum, though as you can see I have not posted nearly as much as most. I am going to post more pics once some additional furniture arises, so this is a test of getting the link to even work. The links goes to a picture [bright and not optimized] of a custom wall...

Question about the Axiom subwoofers...no love?

Question about the Axiom subwoofers...no love?

I am looking for new speakers and was considering the Axiom Master system...but I dont see many positive comments on their subwoofers. I have never heard an SVS [my loss I know], but I guess I would like to hear from someone who has heard/purchased the EP-175. I hope to have an SVS one...

    Theater lighting

Thanks Tom! I started investigating the RadioRA setup and had to quickly back off when I saw the costs. While I am a huge fan of my sconce lighting...it is just turning lights on/down/off after all [laugh]. Thanks for the info on the Spacer....

    Theater lighting

As I understand it, the way the IR blaster works on other dimmers is only if they are in the same wall box. The dimmers have clear back boxes and the master controller sends IR left and right and those adjacent dimmers pick up the signal and react. At first I thought it would control a dimmer...

    Theater lighting

Has anyone used Lutron's RadioRA system? I see where you can replace your dimmer switches and control them all via RF as opposed to infrared, allowing control of several rooms, etc. from one location without any rewiring. Also, I see they have an IR interface unit that allows you to control...

About the Lutron Spacer...I have 4 wall sconces on separate dimmers right now. Can you set all four of the Spacers to operate on the same command? They do not have these at my local Home Depot, so any link to an online retailer would be greatly appreciated.

    Speaker upgrade...

I am looking to upgrade my current system and would like some input from the experts here. If you had $1000-$1300, what speaker setup would you purchase, including subwoofer. My room is about 15x20..in case that helps. Thanks in advance!
