I am not sure if this has been brought up...I just got on this thread and boy, there are simply too much to go through all at once.
One of the topic discussed here was regarding Padme's hiding from Vader; children separated with Padme and Leia changing their names. But what of Luke? A...
Sorry for not checking other threads before posting this one; did not know there was another thread on this topic until now. Most of the forum members stated that this is probably a bootleg version. But after checking with the retailer which sells only legitimate versions of DVDs from various...
I went to a DVD shop last night to check out the new arrivals and was surprised to see an all-zone Temple of Doom DVD on sale; was told by the retailer the first and third Indiana Jones will be here next week. I did not buy it because I was unsure of the quality; will wait for a while to hear...
For fans of Korean Movies...here is another one. Watched it last night and was blown away by its high production value; great cinematography, great fight choreography, great music, and...Zhang Ziyi. :)
MUSA (2001)
Director: Kim Sung-soo
Cast: Chung Woo-sung, Ahn Sung-ki, Zhang Ziyi
Running...
There are several DVD versions of "Shiri" out there; the HK version (meaning realeased for the HK market) is in DD but I have seen a Korean version which comes with DTS. Regarding the movie, IMO, it is the movie that sort of put Korea in the movie-making map in Asia. Shiri was the first movie...
I picked this up on Thursday and watched it on Friday and it is everything that Ron has said...beautiful transfer, video and audio. I don't understand why DVDFILE was less than enthusiastic about the quality of this disc. I would rate this as one of the best disc to have been released this...
Avoid the remake of "Legend of Zu"...it was just a film Tsui Hark used to experiment with CGI. I almost left the cinema half way through the movie but decided since I paid good money for the ticket, I decided to suffer through till the end...it is utterly boring. It may be big budgeted but one...
Ka Yuen:
I have just browse through the titles and prices at DDDhouse and the prices are pretty good. You probably can get it slightly cheaper down in Mong Kok area (espcially in Sino Center) but since you don't have to pay for shipping at DDDhouse, it is a bargain. You may want to check out...
No need to "bang your head" over this. This is a version produced for local (Hong Kong) consumption. It is non-anamorphic and usually the transfer is sub-par (video- and audio-wise); the DTS audio transfer is certainly not as good as the R1 Dolby Digital audio. But of course it is a whole lot...
I have just gotten my TPM DVD. I have not watch the whole movie on the DVD yet but went through a few scenes to compare it with the LD soundtrack and I agree with Rob, it is at a lower level compared to the LD. I love bass and thus is a bit disappointed with the DVD on this point.
I bought Total Recall SE two weeks ago. Noticed that Basic Instinct SE (with miniature ice-pick) was on sale at about the same time but did not pick this one up. A lot of titles are available in stores weeks before the scheduled street dates in Hong Kong; this is one of the reasons why now I...
I agree with you, Yang, on Shaolin Soccer being the best HK CGI movie of the year. In fact, I would go as far as voting it the best HK movie of this year.
And I agree with Sutjahjo that Tsui Hark has lost his touch...I bought the Lao Fu Zhi VCD...did not finish...it is probably one of the...
Did you manage to catch "Storm Rider"? Thought that was better than "A Man Called Hero"; plot-wise. I believe "SR" was an adaptation of a popular comic book in Hong Kong by the same author who created "Blood Sword".
But I think Hong Kong is still a bit new to the CGI scene; I still find the...
Tsui Hark's "The Legend of Zu" is a remake of his own movie with similar title, "The Legend of Zu Mountain", way back in the 1980 or so. It is basically a good vs evil fantasy with lots of special effects.
I saw the earlier version some years ago and when I heard that Tsui Hark was remaking...
Sorry for bringing back this thread...but noticed that "Tesca campaign" DVD comes in Dolby Digital Stereo only as opposed to "Pluto Campaign" which has DD 5.1. What gives?
