That's how it's been for me lately. Roundabout ten or twelve years ago or so, I got sick of television, and quit watching it. The signal to noise ratio was far too heavily weighted in the wrong direction, and even on the few shows that were worth watching, I still had to sit through...
Another first-time Buffy watcher here. I used to tease my dad (who was a fan) mercilessly about watching young miss SMG flounce around on the TV every week...then I got curious, started renting the discs from NetFlix, and now I'm hooked. I've managed to stay pretty spoiler-free, too, never...
Patrick — Thanks for the screencaps of the girls pre-"surgery"! ;) This got noticed and posted to MetaFilter today, and since the original poster couldn't link to "proof", I've snagged your pics and copied them to my server (so as not to slam your bandwidth) and added them to the discussion...
Very interesting news. I think that Hot Button column was quite well-written, too -- news like this is bound to provoke all sorts of reactions, only a small majority of which, unfortunately, will be support for Larry and what he's going through. As far as I'm concerned, i'm sure this is...
Just tossing a couple links into the fray, for your clicking pleasure: There's a little discussion on my Matrix: Reloaded page that may or may not cover some new ground (I skipped about ten pages of the middle of this thread in an effort to catch up...)... There's also a good discussion...
Just got back from seeing X-2 (for the second time in two days! The only other time I've done that was for Schindler's List - and believe me, that was a bit much for that particular film...). I've read _about_ the X-Men more than I've read the actual comics, but I've looked into them from...
So far, switching the preference between "Shuffle by Song" and "Shuffle by Album" doesn't seem to make any difference at all in how iTunes is choosing what to play next. Additionally, so far I'm not using the Smart Playlists - this is all happening when I've got the full Library displayed. It's...
I'm noticing something odd about iTunes 3.0 - and I'm not sure how well I'll be able to describe it, but I'll give it a shot. In essence, the 'random' feature seems to be a whole lot less random. I've got a library of ~5600 songs, and I like to just pop on random and see what comes up next...
I'm still working my way through the (currently) 23 pages of this thread, but if anyone feels up to a quick jaunt away from the HTF, my thoughts on AotC are here.
Brief summary:
One minor - but noticeable - quirk on the Star Trek: Next Generation Season 1 DVD set that I thought I'd mention, as I thought there was a bad pressing at first.
I first noticed this on the episode "When the Bough Breaks" (ep. 118, disc 5). While with the majority of the episodes on the set...
This post is copied from my listing on my website, which has pictures also - click here for the pretty version!
Much as I hate to do this...my speakers need to go, as they're just way more than I need for a space this small, and it's likely going to be a while before I can afford to get a place...
There's been a ton of discussion on this in various weblogs recently.
Here's some pointers for more info and opinion:
From Wired: Anti-Copy Bill Hits D.C.
From Boing Boing: The Anti-Mammal Dinosaur Protection Act
From LinuxJournal: Biting the Hand that Beats You (this one was written by Link...
First off (and this goes back a couple pages, this thread moves way too fast!) - Terrel, as others stated, I was indeed referring to Galaxy Quest and not ripping on Star Wars. You really should check GQ out at some point, it's a lot of fun. Thanks everyone who pointed out where my quote was...
There's a report here on Ain't It Cool News with some information on 10 minutes of footage that was screened at ShoWest.
This did catch my eye, and made me smirk...
I used to have two ferrets, Niko and Ash, which I had to give away to friends when I moved. Wonderful little critters - I originally got them with a friend because our apartment couldn't have cats, but caged critters were okay. Would love to get a ferret or two again in the future, too.
Okay...here's what we've got so far.
Initial attempt at launching via a double-click resulted in the following:
Launched via the command line using command 'java -jar dvdlib.jar' and it launched...here's a couple screenshots:
Well, we're off to a rousing start! ;)
PS - mebbe we should start a new thread in the Computers/HTPC area to cover this, rather than hijacking this thread.
PPS - got a giggle out of Mac OS X telling me how to 'launch this jar'. I figured all I'd need to launch a jar would be a catapault, or...
I think part of it may be whether a film is re-cut to create an actual "director's cut", an "extended cut", or some entirely other beast.
For instance, if I'm remembering correctly, James Cameron was actually quite fine with the original theatrical versions of 'Aliens' and 'The Abyss', and...
