The movie is now released in HK in DVD, will be released in Blu-ray later. The disc has no feature other than some trailers, and is in fact single-layer. Sounds like a typical double-dip from Sony. It is region-free for those who care.

AFAIK, none of the DVD portions of current HD DVD and Blu ray players are region free (not even those players sold in Asian countries, but I'm not sure about Europe tho'). And you will need a dedicated region free DVD player for those non-R1 discs.

If the movie is open-matte and not P&S, then it may make sense (from studios point of view) to release this movie in 4x3 as the target audience may want to see "more of the screen" even though those are not supposed to be seen.

Actually, I had both the 4:3 VHS and the current widescreen DVD, and yes, in some scenes, some of Betsy skin has been cropped, including the famous horse riding one :frowning: The ideal DVD release is that it will include both 4:3 and WS versions.

Unfortunately, we also see LESS of Betsy Russell at some scenes.

You must be a lucky guy. The error appears on my PC as well as my TV and I noticed it quite easily. Basically, once you noticed it, it is impossible to avoid it.

MGM seems to be the "pioneer" in removing burned-in subs and captions in their DVD back when Tomorrow Never Dies first DVD release.

It seems to be so, I've seen both US and Canadian editions (both wrapped), and the latter one contains English/French text at the back. However, I'm not 100% sure if the Canadain version is stuck with a removable paper or not.

This has been discussed in this forum. For me, I have mailed back my disc to the company who have replaced a new one for me, even though for non-US address. I can't remember the company address nor if they still offer replacement. Do a search in this forum.

Slightly off-topic Is this disc anamorphic?? I've carefully checked the package (US version) and it only reads 'newly remastered widescreen version'

Disney's policy is against release of NC-17 material, NOT unrated material. In other words, if restoring any footage, etc, would have made the film to be rated as NC-17, then Disney will not release it. Hence, no Scream unrated release in US. For Pretty Woman, because the Director's cut...

The European versions are stereo only.

Basically, DVD-A in HK is really a non-starter. There are only a few stores which sell DVD-A and one of them primarily sells DVD video, which is not a music store itself. Whereas many stores which sell CDs also sell SACDs. None of the local artist have issued one DVD-A yet.

A hybrid SACD version of this album has also been released by EMI UK in Europe, with the same song list as DVD-A.

I use Microsoft Access to do that, mainly because I could create tables and maintain a relationship between the CDs and the songs. (Call me crazy but I did at some stage type in all the songs as well, but not anymore.) But I agree Microsoft Excel is a much simpler choice.

The orginal quad 4.0 mix is the main reason for me to buy this disc. Definitely buy it, especially if you can get it at a reasonable price (like me :) )

I thought the pop noise only appears in (and after) the Message in the Box remasters. I've this song in three versions: (a) The Police Greatest Hits (91/92) (b) Message in the Box (c) The Police EBYT SACD hybrid The pop appears in the later 2 but not on the first.

Looks like PFM and Triumvirat CDs are only available online in Wayside Music. Are their services good, advice please. How about The Nice? Any recommendations? And Refugee (Nice minus Keith Emerson plus Patrick Moraz before he joined Yes). AFAIK, they only released one self-titled album.
