To this point I have used my Pioneer Elite DV-47A for dvd's only. I use the optical digital out to the av receiver. Could I run into any problems connecting the coaxial digital output to my CDP and single ended analog outputs to my preamp all at the same time? Thanks
I have been where you are. I wish you better luck than I had. Below is a quote from a guy that makes a lot of sense to me. I have not tried it myself. "We used one heavy ground wire for all four circuits with pigtails right by the outlets for ground. I also plug my main source into the same...
Chu B&W does not, and based on my effort, will not make speaker wire recommendations. They do suggest wires with an impedance under 0.1 ohm across all frequencies. That's all I can tell you. Andrew I don't believe is pandering to the psyche of potential customers with its bi-wire...
The B&W manual for my speakers state: "Bi-wiring is the preferred method of connection and involves the use of separate cables from the amplifier to each pair of terminals. The separation of the signal paths improves the resolution of low-level detail and allows the user to optimise the type...
Cables do, beyond doubt, make a difference in a system designed for music. The difference is small but important to many. Cable improvement dollars should be among the last dollars spent. Of course, the vast majority of the people here are home theater enthusiast. I would agree quality wire...
I think Kimber matches very well with B&W. You could get a loaner set from fatwyre.com and try for yourself. (Another good possibility would be Discovery cables.)
Cable risers do make a sonic improvement. I have not used the product you are asking about but I currently use ceramic Ramekins. (They are much cheaper than cable stands / risers.) The improvement is slightly more than subtle but not insignificant. It would be among the last dollars to spend on...
I believe you would find it pretty easy to listen to the HTM1 with any front speakers. IMO it would be difficult to listen to a center of lesser quality than the fronts. The HTM1 does eliminate the need to upgrade regardless of what you do with the fronts. (IMO again) I use the HTM1. I...
Lifting my cables (power cords and speaker cables) made noticeable difference. If all you do is home theater I don't beliew it would make much difference.
I don't believe a preamp with a home theater pass-through colors the sound in any way, tubed or not. If it did I find it very difficult to believe it could be heard in a movie. Whether a preamp with home theater pass-through rather than a home theater processor optimizes an individuals...
All things considered I would try to maintain the equilateral triangle even if it put the speakers a little too close to the side walls. IMO the best solution is to move the sofa out into the room a bit which would allow the fronts to be spaced a little closer. John's comments about the rear...
I think you are going to have to play around with this a little bit. Generally you want to form an equilateral triangle between the fronts and your listening position. If mini accurately describes your speakers you will probably have a hard time getting them to image if they are 14 feet apart. I...
I do exactly what you are trying to do using a Sim Audio preamp. The Adcom GFP-750 will also work. I was looking at the Pioneer Elite VSX TX-47 for the HT end of this system. I would just run the pre-outs for the mains to the inputs on the 2-channel preamp. I believe the Pioneer has...
When do you go to that room? Every chance I get. A dedicated room is both curse and blessing. I have to balance my time between family and music. The family always comes first. A dedicated room is creates greater temptation. I spend most of my time in my room after everybody goes to bed...
I don't know if this will help but I have spent a year looking for an amp to drive a fairly difficult load. I have discovered the amount of current an amp will deliver is not necessarily reflected in watts. I guess my real point is that I wouldn't eliminate an amp because of watts nor would I...
Toe in is speaker and room dependent. Straight on is slightly unusual and I've only heard of one or two say they like toe out. Try it but be patient, speaker placement is a slow process (at least for me).
