Dave, if I wasn't willing or able to spend the cash on the Apple panel I probably would have kept the S9. While not nearly as polished as the Studio Display, it's a capable monitor with some flaws. If you can live with them, it's a pretty good deal at $900.
The same afternoon I hooked my panel up, I got a notification that there was a firmware update for it. So, Apple is at least working on some things regarding the Studio Display. As is typical though, there was no info provided about what the update actually did. :)
So far I've experienced no...
Please re-read the post of yours that I replied to - Post #301. In it, you quote Dave, but nowhere in that quote did he mention seeing the Special Edition/Director's Cut in 70mm. He said ALIENS.
If you're talking about a different post of Dave's, perhaps you should have quoted that one instead...
Not in the post I responded to he didn't. The post from Dave quoted in the post I replied to (#301) did NOT mention the "Directors Cut." At all. He specifically said "I have seen a 70mm print of Aliens at Fox Studio back in 2016" in that quote and that was it.
Well, I did a thing and picked up both the S9 *and* the Studio Display this past week, so I thought I'd resurrect this old thread since the S9 has dropped to $899 almost everywhere now and some people might be tempted, like I was. I've had a chance to compare and, despite some shortcomings, I...
I received my copy yesterday, and my wife and I watched the Special Edition last night. I found the presentation to be a strange animal. Yes, to me it looks very digital and processed for the most part, yet at the same time, there's an astonishing level of detail visible in some of the...
Well, Lucas modified the very structure of his Star Wars films by adding new effects, cutting out scenes, adding new scenes, and changing dialogue. And didn't Freidkin remove an offensive line of dialogue from TFC in addition to changing the color timing? I'm not defending what Cameron's done to...
Or, as in my case, watching the 4K streaming version of Aliens, which didn't look very good at all to me. I'm hoping I have a better opinion of the disc release.
I agree. Marvel seems to be struggling to find its footing again. They captured lightning in a bottle with most of their films up through Endgame, but then they got greedy and oversaturated their market with too many expensively produced movies and D+ shows, many of them sub-par and...
I agree with you Josh, but I also think that it's only a matter of time before every streaming platform out there drops the on-demand subscription model. IMO we'll all be forced to pay for annual commitments before the decade is out, and probably sooner rather than later. I hope I'm wrong.
Got mine from Target today as well, Robert. It's due for delivery on Friday. My Amazon pre-orders (placed weeks and weeks ago) still have no estimated delivery date. I've canceled them.
Great! Ads and price increases. Perfect.
I'm almost completely fed up with the whole streaming service landscape at this point. These companies are working hard to make streaming as inconvenient, annoying, and expensive as cable or satellite. At this rate, it won't be long before I just stop...
I just got a shipping confirmation from Target estimating a 3/18 delivery. Still nothing but crickets from Amazon on both this title and The Abyss, so I canceled my orders there.
