If I remember correctly, Sammans is only an authorized retail dealer. The only Sony authorized internet dealers are Onecall.com J&R and Crutchfield. Regardless, Sony is known for not being too particular about where the product was purchased.
I have a Mitsu WT-46807 and a Panny PT-47WX49. Both units have been ISF-calibrated and the difference in picture quality was almost night and day. Even my girlfriend, who doesn't much care for the hobby, could easily see the improvement. If you like the picture after some basic tweaking with...
I've had a DA4ES for a couple of months now, and I think you'll find a significant improvement in sound quality from your DE945. I've been very happy with my DA4ES. :emoji_thumbsup:
I've had my 4ES for a couple of months now, and haven't noticed any hiss or cross-talk during daily usage with digital or analog sources.
Very happy with my 4ES (except for the remote).

I'm using a pair of ProTower 400s as my front mains, along with a DefTech C/L/R 2000 as my center speaker, a PF18TL for LFE and a pair of BPXs as my surround speakers. I love the way everything sounds and I can't think of a better system for the price I paid.
If you like your ProTowers, get...
Does anyone know if the DA4ES will do the Composite to S-Video Upconversion that the DA7ES does? If not, perhaps that accounts for some of the price difference...
I have a CLR2000 for my center channel. I use the ProTower 400s for the front channels and BPXs for the rear channels. The CLR2000 sounds great in my setup, and matches my other DefTech speakers really well.
If you have a good powered sub, I'd go with the CLR2000 because of the larger drivers.
I was under the impression the H/K 520 only had five channels of amplification. If you haven't already, you'll need to add a standalone amp for the rear center channel.
I bought my set on sale from Dell for $110. The sound quality is just amazing for the price. I don't think anyone who gets a set will be disappointed when they consider the alternatives at this price point.
I have a Sony STR-DB930, which does the DD/DTS decoding. I generally tend to use the Cinema Studio EX A setting, as I find it adds a nice "oomph" to the sound, so yes, I'd say the different modes do make a difference. Whether you like the difference is up to the individual though.
And I...
I have the Abit KT7A-RAID motherboard. It's an Athlon Tbird 1ghz system that I've been running for about six months now, with XP for the last couple of months.
I had some stability issues in the beginning (Windows 2000) but after upgrading the bios and via drivers, the system has been rock...
"I don't know where I heard this from, but I was pretty sure the explanation was that there were 2 "clans" of Klingons at one point. The turtle head race won out and the TOS Klingons ceased to exist."
Chris Claremont wrote a Star Trek graphic novel which advanced that theory. The Klingons who...
I just bought a pair of Sennheiser noise-cancelling headphones from Audio Advisor for $150. Probably not as good as the Bose pair in effectiveness because they don't cover the ears but rather sit on top of them, but they're definitely more comfortable than the pair of Sony noise-cancelling...
quote: Panasonic has never made a really good product, even thier VCR's were bad.
Actually, I think Consumer Reports says that Panasonic VCRs tend to do very well in terms of performance and reliability.
I've had my RP91 for a couple of months now, with average usage about 15 hours a week. No...
I pretty much order all my DVDs using BestPrices.com now. They have excellent prices, shipping costs are now fixed at check-out time, and excellent customer service. I've processed over 20 orders with them without any problems.
My setup is:
DefTech ProTower 400s
DefTech CLR 2000
DefTech BPXs
DefTech PF18TL
On the whole, everything sounds GREAT. The only change I'd make is to replace the PF18TL with a monster SVS setup, and maybe get another pair of BPXs for 7.1 sound.
The ProTowers are very good for the price...
My current speaker package with my STR-DB930:
Front left/right - Definitive Technology ProTower 400s
Center channel - DefTech CLR 2000
Surround - DefTech BPXs
LFE - DefTech PF18TL
I'm very pleased with the sound...
I've been talking to Kevin Miller and David Abrams about calibrating my new WT-46807 after the 100 hour break-in period is over.
Does anyone have any positive/negative feedback about these gentlemen they are willing to share? Thanks.
You know, I'm not sure there's a good answer to your question. Three years in consumer electronics time is almost an eternity, as technology changes so much, so fast.
I will say, however, that in general, try to find a set that allows as much user control over the hidden service menus as...
Nope, I'm fine in all the picture modes, progressive and non-progressive via the component video outputs. I too bought my unit from Onecall (partly due to your review Obi - thanks).

At first, watching cable TV using the stretch modes was kinda funny looking. But after poring through the manual, I settled on the Stretched mode because it doesn't stretch the middle of the picture much, instead stretching the edges of the picture the most. It took about one night but now I...
I looked at both the Toshiba 40H80 and the Mitsubishi WT-46807. While both units are very well regarded, the larger screen size of the Mitsubishi TV and the large amount of information/tweak info available from Home Theater Spot made me decide in favor of the WT-46807. It also didn't hurt that...
I purchased a WT-46807 about three weeks ago, and haven't regretted it for a second. After some minor picture adjustments and a red push attenuator, DVDs look absolutely amazing.
I looked at the Toshiba 40H80 but the screen size was just so small that it wouldn't have been a worthwhile upgrade...
