My ideal Atmos home theater setup would be installed by Tom Holman while I eat pizza off a TV tray. Then Ben Burtt comes in to hand me my remote and ask me if I need a beverage, all while the ghost of Ray Dolby swirls around the room, setting ethereal base traps.
I'm trying to put a list together of the best scifi or fantasy SHORT films available on DVD. I'm talking pretty broadly here, so even most computer animation would count. (like stuff from the Animatrix DVD) For example, I know some of the pixar dvds have pixar shorts on them. There are also...
As the subject says, this is the bracket for adding a second hard drive to your HD tivo box. It's from weaknees.com. I tried it out and it works great. In great shape with all accessories etc. Selling for $30. It sells new on the website for $50. Please PM or email me directly if...
Thanks for all the help everybody. FYI I found a great comprehensive list of Xbox games that are widescreen, 1080i etc. over at the AVSforum. There's also this website: http://www.hdtvarcade.com/
My Mits 65" will NOT accept a 720p signal. It requires my set top box to upconvert that signal to 1080i. As for the HD pack, yes I would definitely be getting that. And I will be hooking up via optical cable. I'm guessing then that the Xbox uses some kind of proprietary out requiring me to...
Ok Xbox Xperts... Please lend me a moment of your time. I've got a PS2 (as well as a bunch of other console machines - it's a bit of a console museum, but that's another story) and I'm finally ready to get an Xbox. I know I'm coming to the party late but I thought you current Xbox fanatics...
Great news. For years I grew up watching this movie on a little black and white TV. Then, as an adult I realized that the film was actually in color. Then two years ago I tracked down the laserdisc and finally saw it in widescreen. Now, I'll get to see and hear it on DVD. Fantastic. This...
None of the four disks in this LOTR set will work in my mac powerbook G3. I tried it in OS9 and OS10. I haven't been able to find any mention of this problem on any of the DVD or Mac discussion boards. (maybe I'm just not looking in the right places?) All other DVDs play fine, including the...
The EB I went to in LA also said that they would take ANY two DVDs (new or used) as long as the inserts were intact and they came up in their system. For some reason, Inventing the Abbots didn't come up in their system, so I'll have to go back. Funny, they wouldn't take Inventing the Abbots...
I spoke with Peter Jackson just a couple weeks ago and at that time he knew of no plans for a special edition of either Heavenly Creatures or the Frighteners.
He said they will probably happen eventually. Of course, that wouldn't stop someone from producing a disk without his involvement, but...
Bettercables coax has been sold. Still have a couple nice Calrad optical cables and some Monster MKII 300 audio interconnects. Here's some info on those:
The cables I have left are:
1. two calrad optical cables, brand new condition. 10feet long each. Price
is $18 each (half price). Free...
I am selling a digital coax cable that I bought from better cables.com about a year ago. I only used it for about two weeks before replacing it with an optical cable. I hung on to it for a while just in case, but I'm realizing I no longer need it.
The cable is in perfect brand new condition...
Okay, I'm a Mac guy. I hate PCs. But I'm man enough to admit that for gaming the PC is still where it's at (for the forseeable future anyway)
Is there someone that would be able to tell me what my best bang for the buck option would be if I wanted to buy a PC just for gaming?
Any input or...
If you're ready to move up to widescreen, or looking for a 16x9 RPTV for your bedroom - this is it.
This set has only been used for DVDs and HiDef material, so there is no burn in. It was ISF calibrated early on and the grayscale is perfect. I have hardly had time to watch this set since buying...
I'm very dissapointed that I waited so many years for this on dvd, only to recieve a disk with key sound effects missing.
I'm confident Warners will do the right thing and correct this problem. I guess I'll be watching the forum for when they do.
: )
Gag reels have been around Hollywood for a long time. They certainly predate DVD and LD supplements.
Traditionally, the editor (in cooperation with the director) will put together some of the funnier outtakes/mistakes/etc. captured while filming a movie and cut them together. This reel is...
The above link is definately something everyone in the thread should check out if they haven't already. Even, better, pick up the current issue of American Cinematographer (the one with LOTR on the cover) It goes into detail about why it was shot Super 35 and what type of digital post processes...
Just as a side note, regarding 2K resolution: Most modern special effects work (CGI etc.) is done at 2k resolution. That means that frames of film that are scanned in for digital effects (star wars, lord of the rings) are done at 2k.
But Mr. Harris makes a good point, 2k may not be enough when...
You're right Mark, Satan does indeed own the rights to his title.
I made a call to the home video department down there and apparently they are planning a deluxe tin. There was a dispute over who owned the rights to Vanilla's soul after his career fizzled so quickly (Vanilla's representation...
Spacehunter without 3D is worthless if you ask me. I mean, that was the whole point! What about Starchaser Legend of Orin - wasn't that 3D too?
Mark, thanks for the plug on my Yor short. If anyone would like to check it out, here's a link...
