I know this is an older thread, but why start a new one? Anyway, I'm moving into a new condo soon that has a couple choices for TV placement, either above the 4' high fireplace, or along the wall to the right (where the current owner has his projection TV). The living room is small, so by...
The various AVS console forums seem to be fairly civilized... there are some trolls but nothing as bad as most dedicated game site forums. I'll have to check out LCVG, I don't think I've heard of it.
Hopefully they come out with a more affordable monitor that includes the MagSafe power cord... I'd buy one like that in a heartbeat... as long as the tri-headed cord could reach the DVI - Display Port adapter on the other side of the machine. I'm going to try to make my MBP I have now last a...
Likes: Looks - My current MBP has a matte screen, and I still think I'd prefer that, but the new glossy display with the black bezel does look really good. The small changes they made to the whole package all work for me. User replaceable HD - My one big dislike of my current MBP is that I'd...
I watched S1 awhile back on rented HD-DVD... really hoping this comes to Blu-ray ASAP as well! Supposedly the local cable company is vastly upgrading their internet service in a few months (new fiber optic link to the lower 48), so they may drop the transfer limit. If they do, I'll be tempted to...
Sorry to hear about your loss. I can see just from your post that you were great companions! I've had a few cats over the past several years. We lost a couple at only 3 years (one was hit by a car and the other got some sort of cancer), and a couple of others that made it to 13 and 15 or so...
I think having the girl lip sync was pretty lame, but as far as I know, the only CGI's part of the fireworks was the aerial shot with the "footprint" fireworks leading up to the stadium, which I realized was CGI when I first saw it. I think Bob Costas even said as much during the broadcast, so I...
I agree, I was very surprised when I learned there was a new X-Files movie coming out. I didn't even know up until a couple of months ago. It's been off my radar for so long, and I was a big fan of the show and very excited when the first movie came out. I even have the soundtrack for it! Not...
I've still only seen the first one. I have the others in my Netflix Queue, but for some reason they don't have Saw II in Blu-ray, which I'm kind of waiting for before watching it. They have 1 and 3 and 4 in BR, just not 2...
After you said this, I went back to read the first few pages of discussion myself. So what do Bill GrandPre and Charles LaSalle have to say now? ;) Not that they were the only ones predicting lower grosses, but they seemed to be the most vocal about it! I knew it was going to make 500...
I guess I needed to read the fine print before I even bothered going to the AT&T store. I signed up with my current AT&T contract 6-8 months ago, not an iPhone, so apparently I'm not eligible for the $199/$299 price. I'd have to pay $499 for the 16 gig phone I want. I didn't realize this before...
Just getting back from Wall-E, I'd say Ratatoullie is still my favorite Pixar movie, but I've seen that one a few times. Wall-E is definitely near the top of the list though. I'll watch anything Pixar makes... really, the only one that doesn't hold my interest is A Bug's Life, and maybe Cars...
Just got back from seeing Wall-E and loved every minute of it. I think it's great, subtext, or not, that it can at least generate discussions like this one. I mainly saw it as a sweet love story between two unlikely protagonists, and I think that any subtext behind that had more to do with being...
Same thing I was going to ask, but I'd throw Ratatouille in there too, just because it's my favorite Pixar movie. I definitely don't see how the other two could be considered disappointments either, but everyone has their opinion I guess!
Link to the HD versions are up at Dave's Trailer Page Looks great! The airplane chase looks exciting. I wonder if at some point they have a fistfight on the roof of the plane while it's flying! ;)
Ok, preaching to the choir here, but I just experienced yet again how Macs are way easier to use than you expect them to be, coming from years of PC use. I finally had need to print something, so I plugged in my 5+ year old printer to the USB port of my MBP. I expected some window to pop up...
I won't be able to see it Friday, or I'd go then. I think I'll see it Tuesday, as I have family coming into town that day, and Tuesday is also "bargain" night at the local 2-screen theater, so it would be less than $10! I just scanned through all of the Rotten Tomatos reviews, and while it's...
I feel like I'm talking to myself here, but anyway... I turned off the power to everything at the power strip, let it sit for a minute, turned the power strip back on, and so far everything seems to work just fine... so disregard! :)
I'm not sure what's going on... came home from doing some errands, and turned the TV and everything back on. Through the receiver, everything worked fine (except 720p mode through the PS3, still garbled)... I set the PS3 to output 1080i ONLY (and the default 480p you apparently can't turn off)...
This is a somewhat long post, but I have a summary diagram at the end... I'm not sure if this is the right forum for this, but I posted it here since I think it's TV related I have a 42" Sony rear projection TV I bought a few years ago. Don't remember the model number offhand, I'll check...
What are some apps you'd like to see released for the iPhone? I have a few I can think of right now. A GPS map program geared towards hikers or boaters, with built in topographic maps or marine charts. (BTW, what is the difference between regular GPS and the Assisted GPS that the new iPhone...
Are you sure about the text message thing? That would be lame. I don't text message currently, mostly because I'm not paying extra for it right now, but if 200 SMS messages were included, I'd sure use them! Hopefully that part of the plan is still intact. Still getting the new phone though...
I know it's "only" $10 more a month, but that's disappointing to hear. I guess it's not really a deal breaker, but $60 a month for phone and unlimited data sounds much more attractive than $70. I guess I shouldn't be to surprised though, as they need to cover the costs of selling the iPhone for...
Really? This iPhone update was about what I expected... would have been cool to see things like video chat but I definitely wasn't expecting that. I wasn't expecting a big price drop either so that was nice! My intention right now is to pick up the 16 gig model for $299. I hope they're put up...
How does one get a job as an "analyst" anyway, and what is their major job function? iPhones haven't been $600 for awhile. I'll be perfectly happy paying $400 for an 8 gig (or hopefully a 16 gig), when the 3G comes out though.
