    Mains that are <6" wide? Suggestions? ->>

    I'm doing a little research for my father, and his setup dictates that the main speakers must be less than or equal to 6" wide. Now I know there are speakers like this out there, but it's hard to do a search based on dimensions. Could you guys help me out? Budget is to be determined on the...

    You are never going to believe this ->>

    Well, at least I know my sub is sealed well. During a listening session I noticed the bass was sounding off, so I looked under one of my subs. There the port was, laying on the floor. The air pressure had blown the plastic port off of its screws! When the weakest point of your DIY sub it...

    Amplifier gain control, etc., questions ->>

    Vince, Thanks to your help I have gotten the subs in perfect working condition! I had trouble finding the time to write this because I've been listening to the subs with a silly grin on my face, replaying most DVDs for the "first time." Anyway, I turned the gains all of the way up and I think...

    Amplifier gain control, etc., questions ->>

    Thanks again P@. Do you think it would be alright to run the amp at 85% full gain and my receiver's sub level at +5 all the time? Also, when I turn it up really loud, the amp's red 'clip' lights flash. I don't want this right???? Have I depleted the amp's 450 watt headroom? When I saw those...

    Amplifier gain control, etc., questions ->>

    Thanks for replying Patrick. It is a QSC RMX 1450 amp (pro style, 450 watts per channel 4 ohm). What do you mean by hotter input level? How would I acheive that? It is powering my dual Tempests and gets its signal from my Kenwood receiver. Any other ideas? ------------------ My Home Theater

    Amplifier gain control, etc., questions ->>

    I finally got my amplifier and hooked it up, but it is really quiet! I have to turn the gain controls all of the way up and turn the sub level to +10 on my receiver just to get a moderate volume. What is going on? I split the receiver's sub output, used RCA -> 1/4" unbalanced connectors. The...

    Connecting cable to inside binding post and sub ->>

    I don't know what they are called, but I'm having a hard time with the little connectors that are used on the sub's terminals and the inside of the binding post. They look like a 'B' if turned the right way. Anyway, how do I attach these for a tight fit? They slip on and off really easily, and...

    Thanks, I am going to go with the QSC and buy Super Speedway on DVD and the Tarzan soundtrack for new material! Thanks again. ------------------ My Home Theater

    Crown CE-1000 or QSC RMX 1450? ->>

    Thanks a lot Vince, you seem to know your stuff. How long have you been in the business? Anyway, do you think the Crown would be worth the extra ~$50 over the QSC? That is the difference between the two lowest prices I have found (including shipping). Again, thanks for the info...

    Crown CE-1000 or QSC RMX 1450? ->>

    If you read my last post, you know my amplifier situation. It turns out that it is royaly screwed up, and it actually blew the cone of the repair shop's test speaker onto the floor. They say they don't want to work with it anymore, so I am going to cut my losses and buy a new amp. Anyway, here...

    Need help regarding an amplifier situation ->>

    Thanks for the responses guys. This is how I have it hooked up: each voice coil of a sub is connected to 4 plug (2 channel) terminal cup. Then on the outside of that, the metal thing that connects both channels is left on, and a bannana connectors are inserted into a pair of the plugs (therefore...

    Need help regarding an amplifier situation ->>

    It's long, but please bear with me because I need some help. Ok, here's the story: my dual Tempests each in their own 10 cu ft enclosure have been done for about a month now, and I can play them! I bought a used Carver M-500 magnetic field amp off of ebay about 3 months ago when I started...

    My Tempest Sonosub Webpage is Up

    Awesome Brian! Your guests are going to freak when they feel their heart vibrating due to the decorative column in the corner! Great job. I have a question for you: do you think it would be impossible to add some threaded rodes to a sub that is already glued together (i.e. finished)? Thanks for...

    A really easy way to make top quality audio/video cables.

    Cool site Chris. I have a question though: the second shielding used to hold together the two cables in a standard audio run(looks like mesh), what is this? I think your site said it was from HaveInc, but I didn't see it on their website. I have ordered their catalog though, will I see it in...
