One that I see a lot recently is different to. It drives me nuts. Where on earth did that come from? Shouldn't it be different from? I also cringe every time I see being that and being as.
I recently got a new PC with Windows XP Pro and need a new scanner because my ancient Microtek is, of course, no longer supported (it was getting a little long in the tooth any way). Will be scanning mostly photos. Would like to stay around $100, $150 tops. Do any of you have any experience with...
Great thread. I've developed quite an interest in Indian films in the last couple of years. I find them fascinating. Extremely different from American films, that's for sure. The song and dance featured in nearly all Indian films are both pro and con of these movies. In many films the song and...
It seems odd to me that you are having a problem. I've got a Weller heat gun and have had absolutely no problem using it on heatshrink around the conductors in Canare 4S8. You are not putting the hair dryer right up next to the heatshrink and conductors, are you? A few inches away is sufficient...
Many Radio Shack remotes, including the Kameleon, can be programmed to operate just about any device. I have one of the old RS 15-1994 remotes that I programmed to operate my Outlaw Model 950 preamp. However my every day remote is a UEIC Cinema 7+. It is discontinued but any of the newer UEIC...
With respect to loudspeakers, THX certification has more to do with dispersion pattern, frequency response rolloff (2nd order at 80Hz to match with the 2nd order 80Hz high pass in THX certified a/v processors) and SPL capability than with a simple certification of "quality."
Saw this posted at another forum. Looks like the Shack may have a replacement for the recently discontinued 33-2050 analog SPL meter. See the 33-4050 here. moderators: please move if this is not an appropriate forum for this post
A couple of things to consider:
1. Ever notice how tuna fish really stinks if you are not the one eating it? I think it is similar with music/movies. If you are not listening/watching, it always sounds too loud.
2. It is my understanding that, generally speaking, women have better hearing than...
Mike, I sent some comments to you via email. I also finally managed to get the fan out of the 1400. It is a Panaflo FBA08A24H which is 24VDC, 39.6 CFM, 32.0 dB-A. Unfortunately the fan I had to replace it is only 12VDC, so I'll be looking for a different one.
Sounds very reasonable Chu. Silly me! I hadn't even thought about the preamp's ability to drive the amp thru that much cable. I think I do have a 25' RG59 cable in the closet. Will have to go to the Shack and pick up a couple of F-to-RCA adaptors but will definitely give it a test. Thanks for...
There isn't enough space in my entertainment center to hold all of the monoblock amps that I have in my system. I have been considering placing each amp on a stand near the speaker it powers. This would, of course, necessitate fairly long (around 20-25 ft) interconnects instead of long speaker...
It is truly a shame that your old lady wanted that beautiful maple stained :frowning: What are the dimensions on that sub? I would love to have one of those in figured cherry with nothing more than some tung oil and the warming rays of the sun to darken it up.
I read a report at another forum indicating that the 727 and other Philips DVD players have a bug in that the multi-angle icon shows on all multi-angle DVDs and the display of the icon cannot be turned off. Have any of you found this to be the case?
I'd like to get into non-R1 DVDs and I'm thinking of pulling the trigger on a 727. At only $80, it seems like a great deal. How does the player handle problem DVDs? My old Toshiba has trouble playing some of the Bollywood DVDs that I buy and rent.
I had a tough time learning the SAT button too. I have a UEIC Cinema 7+ remote and used the jp1 connection and IR software to evaluate the learned signals. Always came up as a bad learn. But it was good enough for me to build an upgrade device for the 950.
I think a better beginner book on speaker building for someone without a technical background would be something along the lines of the Great Sound Stereo Speaker Manual by David Weems and G.R. Koonce.
