I have had a Samsung HDTV tuner that I've used for years (T351 I believe). Anyway, it's on it's way out. I'm looking for a recommendation on another TV tuner for catching over the air HDTV. I need it to have a VGA output, and digital audio out. Any recommendations?
Matt
Thanks Chris. I suppose that's another good suggestion. You could just run two wires to the binding posts on each speaker (or more likely the binding posts on the plate at the wall location where the speakers will be placed). Matt
Sorry for the dumb question, but my wiring skills are minimal if anything gets semi-complex. My brother is finishing his basement, and he's to the wiring stage. There are two locations that he's thinking he might like to put the receiver/amp. Our question is really quite simple - Is it...
I'm just curious if anyone has printed up tickets for their theater just for fun - perhaps something that could be sent to particular people invited to come to a special screening at your home theater. If anyone has, what have you done and how did it look? I'm considering trying to do...
I'm helping my Dad select a projector for use at a family cabin. The projector will be ceiling mounted, and used exclusively for watching standard definition DVDs. It will never be used for HD or broadcast TV (HD or standard). I've recommended that he go with a refurbished Infocus 4805...
Sorry to get everyone's hopes up (I can just see everyone now running to this thread to see if the deal is on). BUT, Is there a way to subscribe to a thread without posting to it (I don't wanna miss out on this again!) Matt
I do. There is a pawn shop near my office, and I'll stop in to check their inventory probably once a week. They turn over very quickly, and it's a fun way to see stuff that looks interesting. It's less expensive than renting, and I can usually sell something I don't want to keep on ebay and come...
I'm not positive, but I think it's recommended that you include both vents and returns in the room, and that in a theater it's best to put the vents in the back of the seating and the returns in the front of the seating. Matt
You might also consider buying something used. I actually just picked up a 5 year old Sharp LCD (1024x768) 1500 lumens for less than $1000. Something like that might work for you, although used projectors are also generally bigger. I'm actually considering selling it since I've already got...
David, I just want to say that I appreciate the way you review the films with a wide viewing angle. I'm watching them on a 84" wide FP CRT, and I know if it looks good under your viewing conditions, then it will look good on my system too. Matt
Neil, if you're going to buy a branded cable, you might want to check out bluejeanscable. You'll find their banner at the top of the speakers&subwoofers forum page. There pricing is very nice too. Matt
If you hop on over to www.avsforum.com they have a very good forum area devoted entirely to CRT projectors. Lots of good info there. You will find a handful of reputable CRT resellers there, probably the most well known is Curt Palme. Believe it or not, you can get a good CRT for $500-$1000...
I'm not familiar with these speakers, but I'll try to help. Is this referring to tweeters that can be "aimed?" If so, I think that may be a nice feature because generally I think tweeters don't have very good off-axis response. This would allow you to point the tweeter towards where the...
They are probably using a lower gain screen on the LCD RPTV than what you're used to seeing on a CRT RPTV. If you haven't already ruled it out, another FP technology to consider is CRT. That's actually what I've chosen, but I'd say if you want to watch football with the lights on even some...
The Sanyo Z1 has a resolution of 964x544. The Z2 is 1280x720. I would bet that nearly all (if not all) the rear projection LCDs are 1280x720. DVD is 720x480. The screen door effect will generally be worse the bigger you blow up the picture if you're sitting the same distance away...
The problem may not be the sounds that the sub is supposed to be making from about 80Hz and below (although the LFE track itself can go up to I think 120Hz). What you're hearing may be the mechanical sounds of the sub like the cone slapping the air, or the sub causing other things to rattle...
I have a Da-Lite Model B pull down with video spectra fabric (gain of 1.5). It has no wrinkles or ripples, although I've heard of others with this same screen and material who do have wrinkles. I think I just got lucky. The general consensus seems to be that if you want a pull down screen and...
