Hi ya folks, Sorry about that. Domain transition is complete.... finally. Hope you found the info useful. I use the switcher quite a bit and am very happy with it. No problems whatsoever and it works as advertised. Thanks, Errol
Hi sergel, A few tosh owners have experienced this. The problem disappears for some after the break-in period. But some aren't so lucky. If the problem persists, a call to a local authorized service center is probably your next move. Thanks, Errol
Hi Manuel,
It's a device that installs inline with the signal that has the problem. In this instance and most of the time, it is the red component. So you get this device, plug in the device component red out to it, then it to the red component in of your display. Simple. :)
Pls go here for...
Hi ya folks, Another options of course without having to go into the service menu is getting an attenuator. Cost is a few bucks and if doesn't work, you can return it to the store. Thanks, Errol
Hi ya folks,
New article from Michael TLV on a better way to present pre and post calibration results to the consumer.
It should turn on a few light bulbs for all of us. :)
Thanks,
Errol
Hi Mith, Yes, I use the Audio Authority transcoder. It is plug and play. Works great with the Tosh. I've also tested the Key Digital but it didn't work as well (i.e., synch problems). I use an AA for for the DTC-100 and and another AA for the htpc. Thanks, Errol
Hi Antony,
480p - good
1080i - eye-popping good. :)
If you haven't seen 1080i yet, you might want to visit a local store that has hd loops running. Even on a non-calibrated set, 1080i is very very good.
See it for yourself ... literally. :)

Hi Mitch, The dtc does HD in 1080i. It upconverts 480i to 540p. I've had the dtc for about 3 yrs now and it works great. Seeing the Gator/Cane game and the US Open this weekend in HD was fantastic. Thanks, Errol
Hi Todd,
Similar to Michael's comment: don't expect an HD set to improve the image from a non-HD feed. We've seen posts like "just got a x-size rptv and dss looks like garbage. Well, garbage in, garbage out unfortunately.
Short of a professional calibration, user calibration via VE or Avia...
Hi todd, Congrats on your set. Regarding the extended service plan.... I normally don't get these extended service plans but I bought one for this set for a number of reasons: * TV's enormous size makes it almost impossible for me to move it, put it in a vehicle that would have to...
Hi ya folks, If the lines move, then it could be interference. I had said problem a while back. One by one I disconnected inputs to the set. It turned out to be the cables to the dvd player. Cables were not shielded enough. Replaced the cables and lines disappeared. Thanks, Errol
Hi Mark, That indicates an internal fault of some kind. A reset normally corrects the problem. Try this: - Unplug the set and wait a few seconds or minutes - Replug and see if the video returns Whenever the set senses an internal fault through its monitoring circuitry, it...
Hi there, A few brands like mits and tosh have sets that are modular. Those would be your best bet. Making a mockup is always a good idea though. Thanks, Errol
Hi Mike, Though a bit more expensive and not as user friendly, an htpc is also an option. For playing DVDs, you get almost an infinite amount of adjustability on screen size ... and without having to enter the service menu. Thanks, Errol
Hi there, * cup imprints on the screen * IR receiver relocated * interior repainted (black) * washers under lens mounts (Scheimpfluge) Most techs unless calibrators themselves won't notice though... unless of course you volunteer it. Thanks, Errol
Hi ya folks,
Purchases are personal decisions. Very personal.
Yes, one can buy at 200mph car even though the speed limit is only 65mph in most states. By hey, it's your money and you want it right?
Regardless of facts and figures, only you the buyer can decide for yourself what suits your...
Hi Bruce, You have a handful to choose from: * Audio Authority * Key Digital * RCA * RF systems I have 3 of the AA and they work flawlessly on my Toshiba TW65x81. It's plug and play. The Key Digital is also good but has more adjustable features (potentiometer/knob) for synching...
Hi Joe,
I know that one of the techniques that pro movers use is to slip a long cloth-like material under both ends of heavy and bulky furniture like a big screen. They then take a secure grab of this material and lift. Easy and simple... at least that's how they make it look. :)
Thanks,
Errol
Hi Lorenzo, Not exactly sure about your question... but here it goes. No, the sets mentioned won't work if separated. Lower part houses the electronics and CRTs. The upper part holds the screen stack. r, Errol
It's contrast (typically under 40%). Use Avia or Video Essentials also to do user calibration.
More info here on burn-in.
Hope that helps some.
