maybe i'm a moron (good chance of that!!), but i didn't understand the whole "red weed" thing. what was it? why did it exist? PLEASE someone fill me IN...(p.s. i had to take a piss during the basement scene w/tim robbins and may have missed something...)
i agree almost 100% with justin bauer's post. good thoughts.
most of the mainstream reviews have been positive, which is suprising for a horror film with this much gore. i'm not complaining, though. any way we can get more people to jump on romero's bandwagon, past or present, is fine with me...
i need about 20-25 ft of component cable to connect a DVD player to my plasma in my office. i found 15 ft component cables, but can't find any longer than that. what's the best way to couple these? i'm looking for a female/female connector, but i'm unsure of what to buy. can i use regular RCA...

the ps-1000 has a 10" woofer that's downward firing, with a 130 watt amp, i think. the pw-2200 has a 12" front firing woofer, like you said. its amp is 250 watts and it costs substatntially more (and goes down lower), if i'm not mistaken. but i would definitely spring the extra cash and get...
kenneth, thanks for the info. i will probably, in the interest of $$, get the 150's all around as surrounds unless i come into a large sum of money soon (UNLIKELY!!). when you recommended another set of SS-150's in the corners, was this for 5.1 musical formats? again, thanks for the help...
no, MY mistake. i wasn't looking at the M&K home page; i was reading a review and they had reviewed the 250's instead of the 150's. now that i've got my facts straight, what is the difference between a 150 tripole and a 250 tripole?
kenneth, i haven't spoken to a dealer yet (still about a year out from building my house and home theater), but i was under the assumption from previously published prices that the s-150's were about $1750 a pair, while the ss-250 tripoles were about $1500 EACH. let me know if this is...
couple of questions...i am VERY interested in the 150 series. i plan on building a dedicated home theater (room size roughly 25' x 20') with 2 rows of 4 chairs. the second row will be on a riser, placing it several inches higher than the first row. will the vertical dispersion limitations of the...
get it...definitely. that is an unbeliveable deal. but, make sure you put it through the paces during that 5 day window to make sure it's not defective. that's a hell of a deal. you'll be very happy with the sub for a modest size room (i've had one for 5 years and love it).
i seem to find alot of reviews of Rocket's front and center speakers, but i can't seem to find a good evaluation of their dipolar surrounds. if anyone has had any experience with them, i'd love to hear it. also, i was looking at Axiom's "quadpolar" QS8 speaker. how much more enveloping would...
I'm in the market for a new TV...I'm torn between an RPTV and a DLP. RPTV mainly because of the black issue as well as the much more attractive price. But, I watch alot of 4:3 material (Directv) and am a little concerned about burn-in. I also watch alot of DVD's. I'd like to get a 50-57"...
thanks tom. i think now as long as a 51" is OK for my current viewing position, i would err on the side of larger since most likely when i move i will have a greater viewing distance (the house i live in now has a small living room). but i also have looked at the 46" and if i wasn't moving soon...
i'm thinking of getting a widescreen RPTV soon. i've got a viewing distance of 8-9 feet from optimal viewing position...what's the best size TV for this? i know there's a formula, but i can't remember it. i was thinking in terms of maybe a 51" screen, but i'm afraid this would be too big...
also speaking of clive barker, does anyone know what's up with his voice? every time i have seen him interviewed lately his voice is unbelievably gravelly. definitely different from a few years ago. health problems maybe? if anyone knows, please fill me in.
kurt, as everyone has said, the best thing is to listen listen listen!! different speakers have different tonalities and may or may not appeal to your particular tastes. like you said, it will be hard to do comparison listening in best buy. so if you can, pick a local independent audio shop...
I recently moved into a larger room and have a bit more space to use for my front speakers. I sit about 8-9' from the TV (a 32" tube), and currently I've got my front speakers placed about 3 feet from each side of the TV. Is this too far? Is there any set formula for placing the fronts...
ok, now the crossover issue is cleared up. but now i'm confused about what the volume level on the sub should be set to before beginning calibration. anybody?
I know there's been alot of discussion on subwoofer setup and calibration lately, but I have a couple of questions I'm a little confused on. I'm currently running a Paradigm PW-2200 sub (yes, I know I need to upgrade to an SVS...I will as soon as humanly possible!!):) I recently moved into a...
I need help! I'm sick of running out of CD and DVD storage, and I'm sick of buying those cheap particle board laminates that Wal-Mart sells. BUT, I want to keep my budget under $300 for storage units (this may not be possible)...does anyone have any suggestions on where to look? I've got...
Great info. I just noticed the same thing with one of my tweeters (and I couldn't discern any decrease or difference in sound quality, either) a couple of weeks ago. I will try the masking tape and vacuum thing. Thanks.
Good point about making covers. I've essentially done the lazy-man's version of this...whenever I'm out of town or at work, I'll generally cover my sub (not an SVS...yet) with a blanket or throw, and this seems to deter my cat. And for what it's worth, the water gun worked for me when my cat...
