DLP vs LCD for Projector type home theater

Sorry, shoulda been a bit more clear. For the equipment cost, CRT still wins. At the higher end its definitely converging, and DLP/LCOS etc are, in general, much brighter. Scot

DLP vs LCD for Projector type home theater

Definitely unbundle. Just to help out with creating my oen bit of the confusion... ;) my suggestion is to spend as much money as possible on the fronts, amps, processor and projector. The rest of the HT system can come later. I have a Panasonic L300u firing against a 119" hccv screen. If you...

    Sony HS10, Panny AE300, or Sanyo Z1????

Easy answer. BIGGER SCREEN! (Ok maybe thats not terribly helpful, but the l300u does look great on my 119" screen) I'll measure the distance to the projector tonight, but it should be right around 14' from where it is sitting and it has some more room for adjustment.

    Panasonic l300u Factory/Service mode?

Heh yeah its been tough trying to get information about this projector. For some reason noone seems to have the service mode information, or the service manuals.

    Panasonic l300u Factory/Service mode?

No, that is not it unfortunately. That is a "service mode" which is just a series of system generated screens. Crosshatches, colors, etc. I need the TRUE service/factory mode which gets you into the bias and gains. Scot

    Panasonic l300u Factory/Service mode?

If you know how to get into the factory or service modes for this projector, please let me know. I am not talking about the "flicker tweak" by holding down the enter key on the OSD setting. I need the real service mode with true access to the units bias and gain settings for ALL colors even...

Problem? - Dish HD6000 receiver and Panasonic PTL300U

My dish6000 works great with the pl-l300u projector I have. Still working on a proper calibration though, contrast ratios are way off from what they should be... (430:1 vs 650 or 700:1) Scot

    Sony HS10 - DC area?

Ok before this rumor goes any further. Without proof of the "bulb issue" please don't comment on it. Talking to the retailers/internet shops that are just out of stock, they are getting new units in on schedule, just not enough of them. That is exactly like the canon d60 camera which has no...

    Sony HS10 - DC area?

Please, forgive me if this is against the forum policies. I read through and didn't see anything saying dont ask for prices, but some sites really dont like these kind of posts... As the disclaimer might indicate, I am looking for an HS10. The questions are, when where and how much? Local...

    L Shaped room

If you put the audio equipment on the long wall but leave everything else where it is, thats my room. Unfortunately I cant put the system at the end of an L corridor because of windows and doors. At 40hz I have a 20db dip, and at 70hz I have a 20db rise. The low end is.. aweful. It doesnt...

    Toshiba convergence

Stephen Smith! You are the man! I would estimate the work to be about 5-6 hours of effort. So if anyone else even thinks about doing this, watch out! I havent done it yet, so that time effort maybe LOW. Remember you will have to do the convergence in ALL of the modes, and setup ALL of the...

    Toshiba convergence

Not looking for user level convergence, I am looking for service level convergence. I should have been a bit more specific in there.

    Toshiba convergence

Has anyone come up with a way to reset the convergence ic's to stock yet? If not, can I use CMUT set to some number other than 47 to bypass the convergence controlls and reset the convergence back to the unadjusted values? Then with cmut set to 48 (I believe) which should completely shut off...

    Newbie LspCAD Help (long)

Your output isnt quite right unfortunately, you are using 1watt as your baseline. Change the measurment settings to be your actual wattage expected to get a more realistic view of the airspeed. Major differences. Scot
