I'm thinking about installing some larger in-walls such as Paradigm's SA-35, and going sub-less. I know, the horror. Anyway, According to the specs these are good for down to about 45 hz +-2db. Has anyone installed in-walls or in-ceilings and later had any type of structural or drywall...
Yes, I know I could email customer support, but this forum may as well be customer support at times :) I currently have a 16-46 (original non ISD) that I'm considering upgrading. Why would the passive CS series have this freq response curve...
What started as an innocent "I'd like to get some new main speakers" has turned into yet another system evaluation  So: Out with the ACI Sapphires, In with the Studio 100's... Oh but now I want better bass management than my older Denon 3801 (used as a pre-pro provides) So...
OK, I have a Denon 3801 receiver with an 80Hz X-over. I power the front L/R/C and Sub with 2 B&K Ref 4420 @ 225W/ch. The rears are powered by the receiver. I listen to 2 Channel in Direct mode using my combo CD/SACD player DACS. I watch DVD and Cable movies (DD, DTS) via the digital inputs of...
I finally got HDTV from my cable provider (they just started offering it, despite the fact that I was "HDTV ready" about 3 years ago), and am ecstatic about the picture and sound quality. However, I have a question about video outputs of the cable box. When I set the output to 1080i, my TV...
For a long time, it has been "Gospel" that you must level match in order to evaluate speakers. The underlying reason given is that louder will always be evaluated as better. If this is the case, then why don't we all buy competent speakers and turn them up a db or 2? In other words...
After searching online and at what must have been at least 20 B&M furniture stores with no exageration, I finally found what for me was a good way to have the RPTV in my living room without having the RPTV totally dominate the decor, nor having to use an entire wall unit...
I'm looking to integrate my HT into my main living area, and would like a list of attractive and excellent bookshelf sized speakers. They should have a fine quality furniture or art look to them. Right now, lets exclude boxes, and also satellite/separate woofer systems like the Gallo. Top of...
Here's what I have: 3 Paradigm Studio 40 V2 in black, near perfect condition (no sound defects, no casual visible defects), used as the front 3 in my dedicated HT system, always crossed over at 80HZ to a sub. $1000 for all 3. 2 Paradigm Studio 20's V1 in black, very nice condition, $300...
Well, after 3 years of Audio Nirvana, in my case 3 Studio 40 v2's across the front and 2 Studio 20's in the rear, with an SVS 16-46 sub, the time may be coming where I lose my dedicated HT room and take the system to the family room. Anyway, when I was last active in this forum there was a...
This is a nice win for Sony-Phillips and us audio enthusiasts.

1 Marantz MA500, in perfect condition. 1 Year old, I committed to buying these when the guy was ready to sell (set of 3, 2 already re-sold), then bought some higher $$$ Reference B&K amps, and carried through with buying the MA's because I gave my word. Typical E-bay price on MA500's is...
I would like to sell this as a package, since passive subs are hard to get rid of. Offering both for $350 + shipping firm. Shipping will be expensive unless you are local or close($100?), this sub weighs 85 lbs and is large.
Even with shipping, this is a steal for a 14" THX certified Sub...
OOPS title should be sharing a center amp with a sub!
I would like to upgrade my center channel to an external amp. I currently use a B&K Ref 4420 Main L/R and Denon 3801 for the other channels except of course the .1 is an SVS 16-46 with a Marantz MA700.
I was thinking (cost wise) if i...
I was considering buying a pro amp to power 2 passive subs. I had my eye on the Crest Audio CA4, rated at 435 watts into 4 ohms, with minimal fan noise based on user reports.
I checked the specs and the current draw maxes at 15 amps! Excuse me, but my entire HT is powered by 1 15 amp circuit...
I have 2 amps to choose from. One is a B&K ST-140, rated at 105 w/p/c BUT with a big cap, high current design. Also, I would only use 1 channel and into 4 ohms I suspect rated output would be closer to 175.
The other is a Marantz MA-700 mono-bloc, rated at 300 watts into 4 ohms.
Now, I think...
OK, this may be like someone trying to describe a computer problem to me over the phone but its worth a try. Warning, I know nothing about these types of electronics, in computers if a board is bad you replace the whole board.
The Sub is a 2 year old passive Citation 7.4, which has a 14" 18 lb...
What to to when you have 15 channels of amplification and only 5.1 speakers? Sell some!
I came across 3 excellent, 1 year old MA-500's that I purchased, inspected, and tested and put right back in their original boxes. These were not B-stock, I have the original purchase recipt to prove it...
I wonder, those of you who are picky about having good bass response + calibrating your RPTV's...what do you do about the bass vibrating the RPTV cabinet and screen (maybe guns also!) enough to cause visible screen deflection?
That big box (RPTV) can't help but react to decent bass.
Just...
This well reviewed 2 channel, rack mountable with handles, 105 w/p/c amp is in great sonic condition, fair-to-good cosmetic condition. There are a couple of small scratches along the top edge of the faceplate, and the faceplate has a uneven light reddish color on top of the black. I would say...
...the more I dislike most sound engineers.
It seems as my system gets more and more revealing--- I've recently upgraded to Paradigm Studios, separate amps, and power conditioning---I dislike more and more recordings and movies.
Some questions:
Does distortion in the recording effect your...
I am potentially going to get some theater seats and would like to add tiered seating to my HT room.
Here's my current pictures:
Link Removed
I want a TV stand that will support my 250lb RPTV and a foot high platform for the tiered 2nd row of seating which theater seats will bolt to. Anyone...
Last night I hooked up my new Paradigm Studio 40's which replaced some Paradigm Mini's. I was blown away by the bass these things put out. But, this leads me to a problem, let me explain.
I have always run small all around with all bass directed to my 14" Citation 7.4 sub powered by a Marantz...
